Winter Tire Help Needed - 2011 135
Hi everyone,
Newbie here - I live in Toronto Canada and our winters are quite bad. I need snow tires and likely a square setup on my 135. There are limited BMW OEM options available however I was wondering if I could use 2series rims on my car? Would they cover the breaks in the front? I found a set of OEM BMW Style 308 rims with winters on kijiji and I want to make sure they would fit my 125. Its 205/50/R17. They are style 308 for reference. I believe the offset is 40mm. Thank you! P.S. I just picked up my 135. I've had a F30 335, E92 335, and this 1 series is my favourite car yet. |

Just fyi, I ran 17" 205/70s for a long time on my 135i until I found some 313s. Still have the 256s if you are interested, just a long way to ship. But the key takeaway is that the 17" fit over the 135i brakes.

So you think I'll be ok running the attached rims on my car without rubbing or damaging the breaks? I think these are the Y spoke 380s.

If the offset is correct, no problem. If it is not standard offset, someone with a better understanding of that spec and the wheels you want to use can give you a more useful answer.

17x7 with a 40mm offset will fit just fine, no spacer needed.
I run some cheap 17's in the same offset as my Winter wheels ... have 2 complete sets actually (one road and one ice race). Far as tires, if you can swing them, Nokian Hakka 3's. And in actual snow, invest in a real limited slip differential. It's a game changer having actual traction vs computer simulated. |

If you can stand looking at them, the steel wheels from an E46 will also fit over the 135i (or 128i with BMW performance brake kit) front brakes. Unfortunately, the center caps for these wheels are NLA though. Theoretically, the steelies should be a bit more durable and easier to re-true should you have the misfortune of impacting pot holes.
