the 335is I believe shares same fan size and has the extra coolant hose going over to that additional cooler.

you should not run into any issues with contact with pulleys. n54 have upgraded inlets that sit way closer.

It's the opposite. The PPK fan is much thicker. I'll verify as I have the full PPK2 installed and still have my stock fan sitting around.

Fan shroud is different and the pipe attaches onto it. No way to use the setup with cfs radiator because of it. I have removed the pipe and used regular rubber hose. The hose is actually thicker than the pipe but is pliable and you can route away from stuff.. Do same if you have fitment issues.

Fan isn't thicker, is just stronger fan, same on 335D and some 5-series models, 850w vs 600w for non IS/PPK fan. The shroud is different.

That's what I meant to say. The shroud/housing IS thicker. And from what I recall, the motor itself is more substantially sized. I didn't look too closely at the actual fan blades so I'll have to take your word for it.

so feuer, can you please give me more specifics if possible? Such as the size of the hose. Is it a AN -10? Did you use fittings from the two PPK2 kit, cut the hose, and add your own hose/hose clamps?

To follow up on this, I'll have to take a measurement of the shroud to get an exact figure between the two fans. I forgot that the stock intake snorkel is in the way so I don't have a clear shot of the installed heavy duty fan. I also looked at the fan blades. From the angle I can see of the PPK2 fan, the fan blades are wider. The stock fan blades taper to the outside edge.

On the right side pipe is connected to the hose that goes to the coolant pump. Cut the clamp carefully as you don’t want to cut into the rubber. You need barb connector there with different sizes on the the opposite ends. Don’t know what size. Need to check. It has been years. On the left the pipe is connected to a short hose with quick disconnect fitting that attaches to aux radiator. Install your hose directly to that fitting.

Thanks. Then what do you do on the auxiliary cooler side? Just slide the hose on and use a hose clamp?

Correct. The car isn't with me. In week or two I will get it back. I can tell you sizes then and take photos too. The barb connector i got from Autozone or Advance. Is plastic. The middle there is flat section and sits nicely on the shroud edge. I think this is it: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/48711741 so the hose you need is 3/8 I guess.

Thanks. If you find the time to take some photos and give additional details it would greatly appreciated. These projects were so much easier when I had more time but nowadays I can’t start on something unless I have a good understanding on what I need.

As far as I know, there is nothing specific to the tune to make the heavy duty fan work properly. The heavy duty fan will just operate as the normal fan would. The only thing required is the additional mounting hardware and the associated relay to run the fan as it draws more power. Oh and the relocation hardware for the horn.
