JayEmm reviews 1M conversion with V8 and M2 interior
Nice review of a really well made and beautiful car. What I would like to know though is: how hard is it to put M2 rear seats in an E82??? I really want to do that for some weird reason...

Love JayEmm been watching him for a while now.
Not sure about the rear seat swap, is there any major difference? I'd rather do a rear seat delete along with the front fancy M2 seats and floormats.

Hmm, I see. Not sure that can be swapped in. I like the brighter red of the newer one, unless that is just the pics lighting.
Post pics of the seats you got

Those 4.0l V8’s go for $15k even with a 100k miles on them.

They can make the same peak power very easily but try replicating the torque curve and throttle response. I agree for a road car I think the swap is kind of silly but for a car that lives on track (like mine) the S65 is light years better.

I'd think the biggest advantage is the simplicity of NA motors. To me, it seems most people do it for the sound.

My car was a full "Stage 2" N55 that saw a ton of track time. When it blew up I did the S65 swap. It probably has 100 less peak ft-lbs now, and likely only a marginal HP advantage. My home track is Watkins Glen, acceleration on the straights is fairly similar between the two, the only big difference is exiting turn 7, up the hill to 8 the N55 was faster because of the big torque advantage. However, the S65 powered car is light years easier to drive at the limit so my lap times dropped drastically, like 4-5 seconds per lap. I used to run in the 2:15-2:17 range and now am now easily down in the 2:11-2:13s with everything else being pretty much exactly the same, and the tires actually being a little worse since I went Continental ECF (vs RE71R on the N55 car) to have a consistent seat-time tire. Then there's all the other issues, N55 oiling problems, overheating issues, fuel consumption, etc etc etc. The S65 is all around a whole different league. If you want to punch it at a green light and impress your friends, the N55/54 is definitely better but if you want a smooth and predictable car on the track the S65 is significantly better. |
