interior coral red door liner coming off Recomend Adhesive

as the title states my coral red door panel inserts are comming off as if the glue has dried out and is not holding anymore so i need some sort of glue to use and then put them back on how they are originaly

What materials need to be joined? Leather, vinyl, painted metal...? I've never seen behind an insert, only installed.

im talkin about the coral red part of the door its leather i believe it is now loose on the top and peeling back and there is old yellow glue on behind it and i wanna glue it back on so it doesnt get worse

I'd try a gel super glue. Super glue's are cyanoacrylate adhesives which are pretty good with most plastics (the type a door panel would be made from) and leather as well. A higher viscosity gel will keep it from running away to places you don't want it.

They use ambient moisture to cure and should set up pretty quickly, a minute or so, but you should count on 24 hours for a full cure especially if the panel is trying to pull itself off (the shape is such that it doesn't touch without you pressing on it). Also try to figure out a way to press something against the panel to keep it in place while it cures, you'll have to get creative.

If you're not into the super glue idea, or really want to coat everything to be sure it's a strong joint, a 2-part epoxy for plastics will do it too. Home Depot / Lowe's / Amazon etc.

What did you end up doing?
My '08 just did the same. Was thinking of getting it recovered from the guy that did my headliner

ended up buying like 7 bottles of glue at home depot and did it myself by cleaning all the old glue off (rubbing it off) and apply as much glue as possible inside dont let it come out or go where its not supposed to tho but get in there all the corners and so on ( it was a loctite type glue) and months later its still holding flawlessly

Hey dsocold , I have this exact same issue. Any idea on the exact Loctite glue that you used to repair yours?

Mine had the same issue. I took it to a local automotive upholstery shop, and he ended up just gluing the edges of the leather into the grooves rather than going the time consuming (and expensive if a shop does it) route of pulling the panels off, cleaning all the old glue off, and re-gluing. Honestly, it turned out perfectly - it looks great, and I don't have any issues at all.

I'm not sure what kind of glue he used, but any upholstery shop should be able to give you a recommendation if dsocold doesn't get back to you...

My upholstery repair guy used a fancy two-part 3M product which mixes the catalyst with the glue as it is squirted through the applicator tube. I held the panel back as he shot a bead, then pressed it back into place. It was only the top of the driver's side on my wife's 2008 128i Sport and on hers I think it may have been actual leather. Can't say exactly since now it is totaled and has moved on. It was a simple repair but I suppose the product wasn't inexpensive. It was 3M Semi-Rigid Plastic Repair #04240

Old thread but thought I'd add on. I tried rubbing off all the old foam I could without taking the panel totally off, then using contact cement (S18 high quality stuff). It stuck but it's a bit lumpy...not really satisfied with it. It will hold the panel for now, but I think it's either take it entirely off and get every bit of foam and glue off, then put it down perfectly so every bit of material sticks, or maybe even add a thin foam piece cut to size and glue it all up.

I have this happening as well. The ideal would be to take the panel off, remove the leftover upholstery glue and use a spray upholstery adhesive. From reading on other forums, it seems to be a difficult job to get right. May be best left to professionals.
