I think i posted a few years ago, about wanting a Tahiti Green e82. Well, i found it!
It rough, real rough. 300k km rough - surprisingly well maintained on some aspects! Someone has put some decent money in this thing. I'm taking this project on with an OEM+ restomod approach.. Slow incremental improvements on a budget to start, exterior styling next year hopefully, if i can find an e82 Performance bumper (not the 135i / M-pack one..) and then.. hopefully some S65 glory some day. In a few years. It's my second e82, 10 years apart lol. I missed the drive so much... And i wasn't badly equipped... Just out of a sexy sunset orange M240i - Dinan S1 (pretty much the whole catalog..), loaded with rare CF parts. A beast of a toy and really, it was all the hype Youtube and socials let on to believe. Except for being a tad.. I feel bad to say it because it's so much car... slightly numb. Not really.. But not, an e82 or e46 m3. Not going to lie, it's also a bit of a set-back at the moment. BUT, once im done with it, i believe it'll be as enjoyable for sure, maybe not faster than an FBO B58... But at least, it'll be viceral and closer to the analog feeling i've missed for, some years now. So far i secured and prep installation of a bunch of marketplace finds to keep the initial costs low: - 328i rear end - 130k km (Hubs, spindles, newish brakes, subframe, suspension arms, newish KYB shocks, etc.). What was on the car was toasted at 300k km - including bearings on both sides and probably cracked subframe.. the benefits are huge for little money: 5-10mm of extra offsets on each sides to fit wider wheels, BMW Performance sized calipers and a full rear end refresh. I found contradicting results depending on the sources, but every mm count on the e82 and if it's 4.5mm per sides, fine my wheels fit. If its 10, then i can eventually fit mostly any set, without any hustle and no gimmicky camber adjustments - for now, it's a win! - 135i front calipers, pads and discs. I recondition the kit, good shape! - Niche - bronze wheels, 19x8.5 et35 front and 19x9.5 et40 rear. - Michelin PS4S 225 front 255 rears, more then half used, but in great shape. - Swift lowering springs, while i settle the the quick suspension refresh, on a budget. - Some new arms up front - hopefully i don't need to do every one.. yet... - A few nick naks like a BMW Performance shifter (sad that the OEM SSK is no longer avaible... That lever was magical), a BMW Performance rear spoiler, etc. If there's interest on the build, let me know i'll keep posting or start a tread, if this feels like im poluting this one.
