Any thoughts on that Mercedes emergency jack? I've been wanting to put together a good spare-swapping setup in my car since I blew out a brand new tire a few months back.
Ah, good information here, as I have been needing to find a jack to keep in Little Red, my 2010 128i. This Mercedes jack looks like it is low enough for the 128i (mine is lowered on the Bilstein B12 kit (B8s(?) and Eibach springs). For my '99 C5 Corvette I carry a scissor jack from a first-gen Mazda RX-7, and for my 2010 E91 a generic scissor jack, but now see that this Mercedes jack would be a good option for Little Red. Also looks as though they are abundantly available on Ebay. Curious how they work as it is not obvious if you've never seen/used one before, I found this video:

Jack pad fits absolutely perfect. Did a lot of trimming on the plastic spare tire insert to get it to fit right, as well as breaking off the protruding tab in the trunk space. Every single one of you on this forum need to do this.
What did you trim? What's the spare tire insert?

Here's my solution:

E60 5 series parts.
- Jack, chock, foam tool holder, oe tools, spare tire
- Quality breaker bar and socket (the hazet is OE, but it stinks for removing lugs)

Y'all got tool kits? I didn't get anything with mine.

My 1 is missing its toolkit, guessing they didn't come with spares either. So I dont even have the can of foam and jack either.
I'll find a junkyard BMW that has it and make it mine.

This is more what I did yesterday...I accidentally broke the upper neck off my radiator when trying to remove the upper hose (after accidentally breaking off the hose connector for the expansion tank when removing the fan to replace the fan belt, tensioner, and idler pulley). I guess after 15+ years, that plastic gets brittle from thermal cycling.

So this is what I'm doing this coming weekend: installing a new radiator and main hoses with a $650-lighter wallet.

The BMW parts catalog list an E82/E88 jack so no need to source from another car. Well you can of course.
There is also a spare wheel kit set, but since our cars don't have a spare wheel tray and trunkspace is limited already, that's not really an option.

There is no real neat solution, but the BMW Mobility kit with foam and compressor is the least 'intrucive'.

I focused on the parts in red. Best thing to cut it was just a regular hand saw for wood. Basically just trimming off all the bits aren't necessary. If it didn't fit after that, scanning and 3d printing was in the future, but thankfully this worked great.

I guess I want the mobility kit with a can of foam and little compressor or something. Without a spare I don't think a jack will get me very far.
I added the jack and a plug kit along with the factory compressor. Not going to save a shredded tire, but get you back going with a puncture.

Nice. I feel the same way, just running errands around town.

Say 'hi' to Metro Detroit for me! I spent 12 surprisingly good years there (Royal Oak / Troy area) before returning to my native SoCal.

Had a DRL go out and I'm confused about the bulbs for this car.

Tried looking at the parts diagram but it added to the confusion.
Do I need 2 sets of h7 for the front and then an h3 for the city light on the end?
What about the turn signal? Im mentally challenged and wish someone took a pic and just said what bulbs go where.

Cuz I'm used to american and japanese cars, that usually have a high/low beam either together or separate and then just a turn signal bulb.

I found the bulb list but its from 2008 and shows bulbs but still lost on whether I need 1 or 2 sets of h7. I do wanna go full LED and I know to code it out or get canbus complaint.

Thanks. Curious, though, as searches for that P/N bring up a couple on Ebay that are traditional scissor style jacks and are expensive ($142 and $200). ECS has it and, again, kind of expensive (almost $150).

But the one offered by Schmiedmann, with the same part number, appears to be the offset style jack similar to the Mercedes-Benz version.

I did find a similar offset-style jack from the E39 (and at more reasonable prices than the scissors style).

I ordered one of the MB jacks off of Ebay for a little over $50.

I got lucky with mine. If I broke that off I'd have just sold the damn car and went back to something easier to work on. Germans and their over engineering stuff that doesn't need overengineered.

I buttoned up my f30 front, 328i rear brake upgrade. Along with 335i master cylinder and all the associated coding. Initial bite on the brake isn't as strong but now the brake feels very linear. We'll see how I feel after some autocross/hpde.

Flushed my brakes today. They were mush after a track day. Took the opportunity to finally remove the clutch delay valve.

WOW. I’ve heard what a difference it makes, and have been wanting to do it forever. Everything is smoother. Heel toe downshifts are SO much better.

Highly recommend if you haven’t already.

Pretty wild how much that little flow restrictor messes up the ability to smoothly modulate the clutch. It's like a guessing game with it in place.

This inspired me to do mine today. O.M.G. What a difference. Every single one of these needs to be removed and trashed immediately.

Chased a boost leak today and by fixing that one, uncovered another one.

And since we’re talking about leaks, I’ve changed every single part relating to the windshield washer tank and it’s still leaking. I changed the grommets, motors, the tank, the o-rings, and even the filler nozzle. Everything from FCP. It still leaks and I can’t tell from where until everything it put together. I even JB welded the new grommets to the tank. Still leaking. Any ideas??
