Haha that’s awesome!! And totally agree. I don’t see how it helps anybody’s ability to use their clutch. Strangely, the one in my e61 doesn’t have the issue at all even with it on there. Makes me wonder how it would be if I took it off. Hmmm…

Yup. Crazy. Like I forgot how to drive stick. I figured it out eventually, but still will occasionally catch me off guard. Now it’s much more natural.

Rolled over 46k miles on the '08 128i and got junior some new shoes yesterday. Conti's. Haven't tried these in long time. Then tried jumping the old 4Runner today but alas, that battery be too dead it would seem.

Junior will be heading up to mtns tomorrow on the new tires. Will be some high speed fun. This car is a friggen blast.

BTW: renewed registration yesterday was like $28 with state assigned value of $500. Yeaaaasssss! I need a warehouse for low mileage N52 BMW's I could load it up with as I could just drive these forever. Cheers all

Installed a crazily cheap Temu head unit with wireless Android Auto & Carplay. Bit painful doing the installation (the instructions were somewhat lacking) but can barely believe how good it is for the price!

Our other cars both have AA/CP, so we've struggled a bit with the OEM system. This new screen has better resolution & brightness/contrast, touchscreen & CIC both work perfectly. It retained all the original interface as well so nothing lost. Also added a rear parking camera. Extremely happy for the shockingly low total spend ($330 AUD, about $200 USD) and maybe 3-4hrs' effort.

Cheapest local installer I could find to do the whole job was over $1k. Reckon I'll take the saved $700 and spend it on the XHP trans flash. Winning.

New/Refurbed steering wheel. It's super thick which I'm still getting used to. And it took an eternity to coming in (close to two months) cause (my guess) the seller sells two things: BMW steering wheels and surplus military stuff. SO customs held onto the wheel for circa a month before getting it to me on Friday. Somewhat funny/not funny was the mail carrier that needed my signature. She opens with "this box is smashed as hell and I marked it damaged. You' re gonna want to contact the seller over this" which had me groaning internally.

It was fine.
One tiny scratch mark and a tiny piece of leather is squeezed outside of the stitching.

I don't believe the part numbers I have are valid for a 135i. I have a 128i, which has front fog lights. So this switch has buttons for both front and rear fog lights. I don't know the part number for a 135i.

Part number for 128i: 61319169404

I bought the switch from Schmiedmann in Denmark. I've ordered a lot from them over the years - very reliable, generally good prices.

The price has gone up a lot since I bought a new one for about 40 Euros in 2019; now the price for a used part is over 68 Euros plus shipping.

I see ECS also carries it (new part, OEM). Wow, the prices have gone up!

And since we’re talking about leaks, I’ve changed every single part relating to the windshield washer tank and it’s still leaking. I changed the grommets, motors, the tank, the o-rings, and even the filler nozzle. Everything from FCP. It still leaks and I can’t tell from where until everything it put together. I even JB welded the new grommets to the tank. Still leaking. Any ideas??
Do you have headlight washers?
Those tend to leak with age.

Also, the connection point between the filler neck and the tank can be leaky...

Next up is the euro air intake and K&N.
I just threw a K&N filter on ebay if you haven't gotten one yet

Guys I'm kinda new here I need help of the electrical wizards here, I have an unsolvable no crank no start issue in my 1er that is intermittent and I think it is related to terminal R due to the fact that it always shows 0.26 V draw when the car is shut down and when the car is on I have the voltage lower by 2v than any other terminal so I'll be really thankful to anyone that can help me

I do but they’re not leaking from the headlights. There a puddle behind the passenger wheel where the thank is.

I changed the filler neck as well.

The only thing I didn’t change is pictured below.

Replaced the coolant hose from the engine to the thermostat. A couple of weeks ago, while I had the intake manifold off to replace the crank position sensor, I also replaced the oil filter housing gasket. That necessitated disconnecting the Mickey Mouse flange and the hose that is attached to it. (I do have the aluminum MM flange, which I put on when I first got the 128 in 2021.)

I had the thought that "This hose is probably the original and should be replaced but I am planning on a total coolant system refresh in a couple of months and have most of the parts. Surely, this hose can go for another couple of months." Well, Saturday night it decided it was done. Nothing catastrophic but we were about an hour away from home for dinner and a concert and I got the low coolant warning. Opened the hood and a thin, steady stream of coolant was shooting out from under the clamp. As I have had coolant system issues on three of my cars recently (both the E91 and the E82, and my old workhorse 2003 Subaru Baja), I've been carrying a jug of coolant in the trunk of every car. So, adding some coolant a couple of times got us home.

Today I tackled changing out that hose. Toughest part was getting the clamp at the bottom of the hose loose. There is not much room to work in that area and the clamp was not angled upward but toward the side (toward the right fender). It took a lot of finagling to get a socket on it and took lots of little turns. I ended up cutting the hose off a couple of inches from the connection so it would be out of the way and I could just barely get two hands in there.

It is all back together and no observable leaks.

Also received the jack I ordered off Ebay - it's a Mercedes jack although after I ordered it I found out that BMW also used this style of jack on several cars. Folds down pretty compact, easily gets under a low car, and even came with a little folding wheel chock. Score!

Ha, ya they work, but I recommend emergency use only.

Yes, it is just to be able to get a wheel off in an emergency away from home. At home I've got several better, safer options.

Okay, so while changing out the engine to thermostat coolant hose yesterday, I was dismayed at the grime that has accumulated over the years (and various oil leaks over those years) on the lower part of the block and on top of the subframe, around the engine mounts. So, today I decided to hit that area with the pressure washer (I had it out to clean off the deck furniture). Seemed to work well - the grime was much reduced on the car (and evident on my driveway). However, I found this on the driveway when I moved the car:

Anyone able to identify it and tell me what it is for and where it is supposed to go?

Haven't done a thing.

In mourning: A week ago, my brother was broadsided in his E92 and passed away.
