Are 1 series and 3 series blinker sockets interchangeable?

I asked this question on Reddit and all I'm getting is crickets.

I like the compact nature of the socket for the 3 series. But I don't know if it would work. The tabs sure look the same to me. I should add that the socket for the 3 series is also A LOT cheaper.

Edit: Now that I have seen a few other pictures, I'm kind of doubting that they are interchangeable. The tabs on the socket for the 1 series appear to be evenly spaced all the way around. The tabs on the socket for the 3 series aren't all equidistant from each other. But I'm still not positive.

Dont think the spacing is even on the tabs around. Also, dont think you would be able to properly insert the socket with the 3 series one. The space where the indicator socket is on the 1 series is very tight and recessed.

Cross-referencing the 3 series PN, it doesn't show up for any E8x.
