For anyone else yet to do theirs, buy a set of nuts. The entire threaded pin backed out my old brake light, and I could not get the old nuts off. I have a 2013 and the existing springs seemed fine. |

Have replaced this twice. Brake light is totally shattered again.
Have bought a CF trunk hopefully this fixes it.

Mine was replaced by the dealer about 14 years ago (they ground the metal tab off as well). I found putting a piece of adhesive foam weatherstripping on both adjustable contact points of the trunk lid cushions the closing process (and don’t slam🫣. I put my work bag in the trunk every morning so I use it regularly.

thanks OP! I replaced mine this weekend. Shaved the metal tab down with a dremel, primed and painted. Trimmed the plastic strip on the new OEM light unit and fitted up beautifully with the new revised springs, washers and nuts. Hopefully it lasts for many years to come.
