Removing Glove Box Trim
Greetings. I noticed yesterday that the lower portion of the dash by the glove box has started to peel a bit. I did a bit of reading, and this seems to be a somewhat common thing (Pic of another members car with the same issue added for posterity)
![]() I called the local dealership and asked if this would be covered under the CPO warranty, to which they explained that dash and trim pieces are not. Fair enough. I found the piece online for $50, so I was planning on just swapping it out myself. It would be piece #3 in this diagram from realoem ![]() I started pulling it apart to get an idea of how it comes apart, but can't get the damn thing to come off. Anyone ever removed this piece before and know more or less where the bolts are located? Seems there's one on the top left corner, one behind the climate control, and one behind the dash trim, but even with those removed, it won't budge. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! |

usually on trim pieces they're held in by clips along with being screwed down by bolts (and sometimes screws).

![]() I've seen quite a few of these cars with this piece peeling, so I'm sure someone somewhere has replaced it and can shed some light on this. |

Have you looked inside of the glove box? I'd remove/detach the glove box and look in there.
If you've removed screws/bolts and it's absolutely not budging, then i'd imagine that it's being held in by clips. UNFORTUNATELY my woman just took my car to go to work, otherwise I'd go down there and see if I can take it apart. If you don't get anywhere tonight, then I'd be more than happy to take apart my car tomorrow evening and try to take some pics. |

Just did some thinking and looking at this originally, I thought you were having issues removing the trim (above the glove box) not the trim that the glove box attaches too.
Since this is a trim piece that's part of the dash, I'd look into removing the glove box first, and then moving on to the trim piece that you're aiming at. Look inside of the glove box for torq screws. Also, look underneath towards the passenger kick panel. Might be some bolts or screws holding that in place as well. I'll update what I find tomorrow, hope this helps! |

This is what I found
Hey there!
I wanna apologize up front as I wasn't able to fully dismantle this thing. Not because I couldn't but because my woman needed my car again to go get her hair done. lol Anyways, this is what I found. Removing this trim piece will require that you remove the passenger kick panel, the passenger vent, the door trim piece between the weather guard & vent (usually this part on other cars would be a fuse door panel or of the sort, the HVAC controls, head unit, and upper trim piece (that goes above the glove box.) I figure out why this thing won't budge with the bolts that you had advised that you removed. There are torq screws holding this thing in place BEHIND the panel. I've posted some pictures, I hope this helps. Please note: The picture with the yellow circles is the torq screws that i'm talking about. You can see my hand in the picture as I'm sitting down on the passenger seat and took the picture pointing directly down. |

Yeah man no problem! The woman keeps needing my car this week (we share the same vehicle if that's not obvious by now lol) so if I can get to it this Saturday, I'll try to tear this thing down and get some more pictures again.
Note: I'm not 100% how many tq. screws are holding it in place on the rear side of the panel. I don't have a 90 degree tq. wrench or screw driver so I was unable to get to them. My ORIGINAL thought was to remove the entire piece and then get to the screws behind them. Might be easier to just use a better tool. Anyways, good luck! Hopefully you get to this before Saturday ![]() |

ECS has them in stock for a few bucks less than most other retailers. I'd pull the part number from realoem depending on the color of your dash (Schwarz black, alaska grey, or beige) and go from there.

hate to revive an old thread but I'm about to restore my lower dash with colorbond LVP so it's relevant to me now...
For anyone trying to do this, you have to remove the whole glovebox assembly to get to those screws in the back on top. Remove kick panel, main dash trim, vent, panel below the vent, unscrew the glovebox assembly and at that point you can remove those screws and replace the glovebox trim surround Attachment 1 |
