Luckily Ferrari didn’t have the lift and coast problem at COTA. That definitely helped there pace. Any who, congrats to Max, he earned it! Hopefully MCL drivers will stumble or suffer engine problems. I would love the WDC to tighten up and come down to the last race. MCL sabotaging PIA might come back to bite them.
I do think Max is a better qualifier than Lec but Lec is not far behind. Even when Ferrari was setting their car for quali pace only Max still put a car not set up for quali on pole more than Lec and has nearly doubled the amount of poles with comparable cars. That said, I hope Lec can get in there behind Max and help to push the Mclarens down the order a bit. Obviously we see what happens in cases like that.

Let's not forget that the McLarens had less 2025 telemetry data than the rest of the field to prepare the car setup for the COTA GP: only 1 free practice session + Sprint qualies. As a matter of fact, as we know, McLaren's 100km/62miles F1 Sprint was shortcut in the first lap, kissing all Sprint race data goodbye. Subsequently, there were the GP qualies with quickly repaired McLarens.

We will never know how that may also have affected their performance during the COTA GP.

Stewards don't mention anything about 'tampering with tape of a competing team' in their document.
https://www.fia.com/system/files/dec...d_incident.pdf

But if it was the purpose to remove it or to move it, or to add more tape to confuse or fool, then that's troll behavior by RBR. Don't do that.

Also begs the question: does an aspiring WDC title candidate really need tape on the wall to assist him positioning his car on the start grid ? Pinnacle of motor sport best driver of the world ?

there is no rule about this so it's not in the FIA statement.

but the CCTV showed what was going on.

you don't have to argue with me, the whole world has already said what was going on. tape tampering. and until the FIA comes up with rules about this, there are no rules about putting and removing tape from the wall.

It reminds of 2021 when RBR/Mercedes pit crew sometimes didn't move rubber upper cables when the competing car left after a pit stop (hindering a competitor). Don't do that.

And stewards can penalize unsportsmanlike behavior.

...and RBR were still fined for this ? Then FIA takin the pee pee. They have the right to appeal if there is no mention of tape positioning in any of their many rules.

Honestly if the best drivers on earth can't position their cars just right then back to learner driver mode. This is a requirement when taking the road driving test and a fail if out of position too far or hitting the kerb.

The were not fined for removing tape but for not following marshal's instructions. A crew member tried to return to the grid against marshals' instructions after the formation lap had begun.

For many of us we thought the sleazy antics of RBR would cease with the canning of their lowlife principal...obviously we're mistaken.

Don't be naive. They all do that sort of stuff. The Ferrari cone above as an example. Should they do it? Abslutely not.

It wasn't me who coined the description of Horner...it's well known throughout the motorsports world that he's become a persona non grata.

It was a personal decision I believe by the chief owner of RB. Things stick even when you're innocent and its a different situation with a F1 race team principal who had the companies' logo on his shirt rather than a joe public chap who has been acquitted in a court.

Your defense of him puts you in the minority. Most see him for who he is.

You're the only one who's trying to bury him, it's your own personal presumption not 'from everyone' which you are guessing so don't get carried away.
