Sorry to revive a dead thread but I'm in the process of doing this and I'm encountering a problem with the mileage.
I've already installed a e90 cluster with no issues, even was able to erase the mileage and vin successfully on a 080D0WQ chip (E90 cluster had 158k and my car had 128k at the time) no tamper dot and the mileage was correct. I'm doing the same process with a e92 m3 dct cluster and the cluster itself has 83k miles and my car has 140k. Here is the problem it won't rewrite the mileage to the cluster even when the correct vin is written via Ncsexpert. To explain my car currently has 140242 miles. If I drive 2 miles it will read 140244 but if the cluster were to loose power it will revert back to 140242 (glad I caught this early cause I had to readjust the needles) Even if I plug it into a test bench it will still display the old 83k miles. Same 080D0WQ eeprom. It is an LCI cluster and my regular e90 one is pre LCI I tried duplicating the eeprom but that bin file doesn't work AT ALL on the LCI cluster Interestingly enough however when I dumped the eeprom after coding it looks like the mileage data is halfway written even the r270 software can't determine the mileage but like I said on a test bench it's still displaying 83k miles Last edited by Dr777; 11-26-2025 at 09:28 PM.. |
