Beeps after shutdown

I get these two beeps after shutting down the engine. It goes like this:

1) Ignition off with standard 3 consecutive beeps
2) Eject key
3) About a second later first beep which seems to come from behind the radio/CD area.
4) About a second later after that a second beep which seems to come from behind the speedometer area. (mine is RHD so from the right side of the car from driver’s perspective).

Sometimes it’s one beep either 3 or 4 above but can’t recall. In most cases it’s both.

I have a feeling it’s some chime about the battery level of either the car or fob as it doesn’t seem to sound soon after I do a full battery charge with my trickle charger. Or I could be completely off.

It’s not a daily driver but when I do drive it 2 or 3 days consecutively I doesn’t seem to beep.

I have coded the car to auto-eject the fob when long pressing the Start button but can’t recall if that started these beeps but I doubt it and think it was doing it before.

Nothing else is a problem on the car as far as I know.

Weird, not gongs?
Have you checked battery health / use a conditioner?
Could be individual control modules powering down and complaining about marginal voltage.

How old is the battery?

Idrive should show an error and if you don't have it, the BC in the cluster should report what error (if it is an error).

3x beeps could also be <3*C temp warning.

Definitely not a gong. Battery (Varta) was purchased new about 3 years ago when I got the car. But I think the manufacture date was 2021 or something. My Varta battery terminals didn’t have a date stamp but some convoluted date ‘code’ burnished on the side of the battery which I remember having to google.

No errors on iDrive but I’ll check with Bimmerlink.

I’ve always been a bit iffy on this battery - which was more like a short term thing right after I got the car so have been meaning to get a new one.


Also, yeah it’s not the 3C cold weather warning which I know what that is like. That gong always freaks me out whenever it goes off. Does it on the MINI Cooper as well.

Gong anxiety lol. It's real.

My gut still says marginal voltage from your battery. See if putting a conditioner on it helps/checking health?
