1 Series Convertible E88 Amplifier Location??

I'm at my wits end trying to DIY upgrade the HiFi 676 amp in my 128i convertible I have taken apart the entire interior basically and installed upgraded speakers in the door pockets front and rear, subs under the seats, tweeters in the door corners, you name it.

I cannot figure out where the amplifier is on this car and how access it. Now I know what you're thinking; a quick search will tell you that it's inside the left trunk compartment, and that is true, in the E82 coupes. However, since the convertibles have the deck lid where the top is stored inside the trunk, there are levers on the left and right side of the trunk that are fixed in place and make the compartment areas on the sides (that you'd remove on the e82's to access the amp) impossible to remove.

I have removed the front and rear door trims and taken the seats out, and didn't see any evidence the amp would be there instead. Every single DIY amplifier replacement guide I have come across for the 1 series cars has been done on E82's. Please help if you're a fellow E88 owner or know anything about the amp location!!

It's in the trunk. Driver's side between the floor and the side wall just like the coupe. Trust me, its there. I have an E88. You have to push up the "holder" for the roof and do this activity with the roof up.

Hi. Seen this whilst browsing so signed up especially. Your amp in the E88 is in the rear passenger side panel behind the speaker. Seat out job I'm afraid though to access it. It sits in it's own bracket held in by three bolts, two at top, single below.
I've literally replaced entire so-called 'Top Hi-Fi' Logic 7 system in mine within last week.

Sorry to bother you on an old thread but I've been searching for my amp. To confirm, I have to remove the REAR seats to get the side panel off and I'll find the amp there?

No you don’t. You have access it through the trunk. Through the inner well. Driver side.

for the 2012 e88 with the logic7 system, its NOT in the drivers side trunk. Dont know why people keep saying this?! Wish it was, I'd be done if it was. you have to rip the rear seats out, along with the rear passenger trim.

I wouldn’t mess with removing the seats and stuff. Too many sensor modules in these convertibles. Not worth it for me just to upgrade the sound system.

I believe mine has the Hi-Fi system and its not bad. Its not like my Logic 7 in my E90 but its alright.

Ripping out the rear seats in the E88 is not a problem. I can confirm in my 2008 E88 the fiber optic connections are behind the side panel next to the rear driver’s side seat. You need to remove the rear seat, driver’s seatbelt upper mount and pop out the upper trim panel to get the side panel removed. Do all of this with the top down. The most difficult part is getting the headrests and their plastic inserts removed. You do not need to mess with the safety roll bars.

I installed a used SiriusXM radio unit in the factory location in the trunk, under the floor, behind the rear seat. There is another module back there as well, but I can’t remember what. I just had to buy the factory bracket for the satellite radio unit, everything else is prewired. Then I had to switch some optical connectors around behind that side panel. My radio head unit instantly recognized having a satellite radio unit.

I’m perfectly fine with the Logic7/Harmarn-Kardon system in my 2012 135i.
Technically the E88 misses the center speaker and we didn't get the Logic7 checkbox and logo (although I coded it on just for fun)

It’s all about good quality music files. 320/44 preferably
Or anything lossless/FLAC.
