B8 shock rear

Is this only for lowered cars?

Designed to enhance your car’s lowered suspension, Bilstein’s monotube gas pressure technology delivers a sporty ride with remarkable comfort. This class shock is considered by us at FCP as performance upgrade to any shock and is ideal for vehicles with a lowered stance.

Thank you!

Looks like a minimal length difference….however, it must be the case if they manufacture them differently for stock and lowered.

I wish that Bilstein article went into a little more specificity instead of just saying OE springs. I guess it was meant to be just a very high level info piece. Aren’t M-Sport springs considered OE?

In the E39 era, we used Bilstein HD’s for M-Sport springs and Bilstein Sport for anything lower like Eibach/ACS/H&R.

The HD’s were slightly taller. I wonder if they are the same or an evolved product and are now called B6 and the B8’s are the equivalent to the Bilstein Sport.

Looking at Rockauto, B4s are stock replacement, B6s appear to be a little stiffer but for stock ride height, and B8s are for lowered suspension plus stiffer.

If you have msport than then either should be fine, if you have non m-sport (i think the americas only got msport as standard) then do the b6.

B6 paired with oe non m-sport
B8 paired with m-sport or aftermarket lowering

B4 only really with oe non m-sport, soft ride, not performance oriented.
