my dealer seems well clued in, but i'm not surprised they didn't know much:iono:. sometimes i think the dealers aren't as passionate as us - they just read the memos they get from HQ!

THANKS! that answers a lot of questions floating around.
I imagine most people are rather upset at the 3400 lbs. weight. I for one am not. Imagine how solid this little car will feel with construction of that weight. It's going to be like driving a rocket-vault.

There was a note that the vehicle shown does not reflect UK specifications, so I suspect that there will be some changes. Hopefully as we get closer to the actual sales date we will see more of the details such as the M Sport bits for the interior of the 135i.

I'm a little disapointed with the 3400lbs (not sure where that was in the article)
but I am very excited with the near 50/50 weight

:mad:i guess the moderator of this website must have edited my original post (which had a link to the gallery website) and has forgot to include the final page of the brochure showing dimensions etc.
here is the link: 1 Series Coupe Brochure Gallery |

thank you very much for the scans! more to drool over.
hard call on the colors. And of course, they might not be the US spec colors either. I have to say - i think that I am leaning to sedona red or monaco blue. I always thought it would be the titanium silver, but I am starting to think that that is a little boring. I would love to see the ingolsat (sp) blue or Imola Red... -jac |

This is the UK brochure, if you goto www.bmw.co.uk you'll notice that all of the 3 series with Sport Package have the tag "M Sport Package", like the 335i M Sport Package. But we all know that there is still an M3. So there's still a possibility for an M1 although I'm not sure how much more power they could put into an M1, maybe it could just be lightened and have a better suspension for a marginal amount of money?
Very disappointed with the weight. I was hoping for 3000lbs, assuming it'd come in near 3200lbs. My interest in this car was originally due to the size and weight plus the power of course, but now it sounds like the car will weigh only ~120 lbs less than the 335i. If you compare the Unladen weight in kg from bmw.co.uk for the 335i and the Unladen weight in lbs from bmwusa.com for the 335i, they are very close. Actually the UK version is lighter! So my guess is that the weight won't be calculated much differently when they bring the 135i over here. I know someone was saying the Unladen weight includes 90% fuel and 75kg for the driver/cargo. Do most car manufacturers do this? If curb weight is normally calculated by other manufacturers with 0 fuel and no driver/cargo, the 135i would come in much lighter. Guess I'll wait and see. |

This is awesome! Please note, guys, that the brochure does confirm that the unladen weight quoted does include 90 percent tank filling, 68kg for driver, and 7kg for luggage.
BTW, I dont remember even the 335i getting a 180 mph speedo. |

time for some late night Math Masturba....um....Manipulation!
(remember, this is from a graphics guy - numbers aren't my bag, baby!) Ok - so the scanned brochure states the 135i is 1560 kg including 75 kg for Driver and luggage. 1485 kg w/o driver & luggage. 1485 kg = 3,274 lbs (based on the google conversion, rounded to the lb.) The current 130i (closest in current spec to an 135i) has a fuel capacity of 53 L, or about 14 gallons. google says that a gallon of gas weighs about 6 lbs., so 14 gallons weighs about 84 lbs. 90% of that is right around 75 lbs. which would bring us down to right around...3,199. Which, since it is now on the interweb, there is PROOF that there is NO WAY the 135i will weigh more than 3,200 lbs. See MATH and FACTS above... |
