Tint
May be a dumb question, but here goes.
Has anyone tinted their 1 series yet? I don't have mine -it's on order but when I asked about tint at the dealer, was told there are three different levels. 20%, 30% 50%. I'm not used to these kinds of options! I've only ever been given one in the past. (obviously this is my first bimmer) Has anoyone tinted their new 1 series and if so which one did you use? |

Thanks! It will look complete when I get the sports springs on. I paid $300 for the tint from the dealer.

Living in Florida, tint is essential. I usually go with the darkest they'll put down. 20% on sides and usually double 20% on rear window. Used to be able to get AT 5% limo tint. I don't know if that's still available. As long as I tell my guy if I get pulled over for too dark, I got it online and installed myself, he's way good....My 135i should be here in 3 weeks, and it'll be tinted in 48 hours. Sorry, just gotta have it here............BTW, have had limo looks for years, here in FLA the man don't hassle ya. Cops are tinted pretty dark too...........

Go to a shop for tints. Dealers always charge more. Got my bros grand am tinted a month ago. 4 windows, back and front sun strip was $220 total. I would imagine the coupe to be less with minus 2 windows to tint. $300 is way to much for me. plus the shop I get it done at guarantees their tint for life. not sure if dealers do that. So look around before you go to the dealer. You get many more options then 3. you got from 5% to 50% and every 5% increment inbetween. I got 5% all around on the grand am, also had 5% all around on a 95' family car and never had one cop issue.
Not sure if I will go with 5% again though being really dark and all. Im thinking of 15 or 20. Go to a local tint shop. They should have examples up for u to see. |

% = percent of light tint allows through.
Anyone looking for non-metal (doesnt interfere with radar detectors) or ceramic tints? Ceramic ones are really nice, but only go to 40% I think.. |
