How to protect against hazy headlights
I'm very excited to be picking up my 135 thi week and am thinking about ways to keep it looking nice for years to come. One reason I picked AW, aside from the fact that it just looks great on the 1, is that, properly taken care of, white cars can look better than most years later.
One thing that stands out with cars as thy age, though, is their hazy headlights. I'm wondering if there is anything I should do to keep those plastic headlight lenses looking nice and cear for years to come. Any recommendations? |

My e90 got hazy, and I used Griots plastic polish.. cleaned them right up. I think there's a bunch of products out there, but modern BMWs do have headlights that sometimes haze.

Meguire's Plastix is what I'm using now, although I just used Meguire's Quik Detailer Spray for 4 years on my Acura. Wax them regularly, and they will look new for years...Here in the South, it's LoveBug City right now, I keep the Quik Detailer in the trunk, and take a couple of minutes anywhere I park to get those little acid bags off my paint.Good luck.........

+1 on the Xpel or 3M ClearBra. If they get messed up, peel and re-apply!
If you don't cover the headlights, use Plexus or another quality plastic polish regularly. Haze on headlight covers is a whole bunch of accumulated small nicks, dings and fine scratches that build up over time. Plexus or other plastic polish is mildly abrasive, and it helps keep the haze from forming. If you're already hazed up (probably not w/ the 135 being so new) you could try this product: http://www.permatex.com/products/aut...tion_Kit_1.htm I've not used it myself, but have heard that it works well. Also, check out the instructional video on that page. |
