Am i right in saying those are 18s from a 3series touring or saloon? looks nice congrats, that engine is a peach when its run in, have just driven to coventry from sussex and averaged 50.4MPG, now yes i was doing 75 with cruise control on all the way, but its also nice to know that when you floor it it will fly!

and while it was good I felt the same as you about the sound, hence I'm now thinking about a 125i. Did like the 'performance' wheels but not sure I could bring myself to get them over the excellent 261s on the 125i M-Sport. |

I'm wrong, you are all right
My wheels are nothing like that. I stuck with the standard 17" wheels because my last car (a JCW MINI Cooper S) had 18" wheels and sport suspension. My back needs a couple of years to recover now... lol |

Sorry I wasn't trying to be a wheel anorak - i just thought they looked good and didn't see them when I ordered mine. I've got the 261 wheels when I finally get the car. We're all in the 1 series coupe club together afterall !

Looks fantastic, wheels really suit the car IMO.
My car has just run in now and it's really flying... I am having soooo much fun now!!! But the £55 Shell VPower bill yesterday wasn't so nice...

How do you find the cars performance Vs your old JCW MINI ? I currently drive a 220 BHP MINI and I looking for something with similar performance. Cheers Perm |

You will not complain about the performance at all!
My JCW was about 220bhp too as I had some of the JC additions. The driving experience is very different and it might take some time to get used to the smaller rev-range but once you do it's brilliant. The amount of torque that's available in the gears is superb - more often than not you don't need to shift down to overtake etc. My biggest problem is the lack of noise. The JCW (as you know) lets you know what is happening aurally. Loads of S/C whine and rev noise. The BMW is just soooooo quiet. I reallly have to watch the speedo as it will hit license losing speeds with no problem at all. I am very happy with the switchover - sometimes I miss the roadside attention my JCW got, but IMO the BMW looks fantastic with the M-Kit too and if I want attention I still have a '67 Cooper S sitting in my garage to play with at the weekends |

sorry for not keeping tabs on this thread, thanks for the replys, glad to know other people like the wheels. i felt they just finished the car off. as M52 pointed out, they are 18" of the 3 series, M sport wheels, can't remeber the style though. I need to change the tires though as the ones that came with are sh*t diamond back, in the dry they are ok but in the wet they tend to loose traction very quickly with little warning. Once you start to slide it takes an age for them to come back to you. Looking at a set of Avons ZZ3 or ZV5. One thing i'm slighly unsure about though are the tire sizes, currently they are 225/40/18 all round. could i change the rear 235/35/18 or 255/30/18 (or something similar) and leave the fronts as 225/40/18?
