Photo of diff, why not replace the internals?
Here is a pic I just took from under the rear of my 135i, is there a way of opening up the housing of the diff and replacing the interior components to turn it into a LSD or is the housing (bolted up case) too small to accept a LSD.

As I understand it, the problem isn't the housing, it's the internals themselves. Once they're in they get welded, and it makes them hard to swap.

There's been a thread on this here. The final consensus was that, like the mid-2007 + 335's, the 135's ring gear is welded to the carrier. Therefore, to make the swap to a LSD, it will require the differential, a new ring gear, the final drive unit and about $4000.

Can I open the rearend and replace the diff with a LSD and new ring and pinion gears (from an automatic)?
LSD + ring + pinion + labor = $4000? How much are the gears? |

Contact KAAZ or Turner to see if they have a kit available.
