Seibon GTR CF Hood Painted AW
Sorry about the bad pictures. It's late, dark, and in the garage. I'll get some better pics up tomorrow. Anyway, looking for opinions good, bad, or indifferent. I'm still not sold on their GTR style hood but I have to say that it did turn out better than I expected. Still not sure if it's too agressive for a BMW. Thoughts?

I'm loving it, though I wish the split in the middle of the vents on boths sides were thinner. I think it is an awesome addition to the 135i and definitely makes it look the business while at the same time keeping things cool under there. Great job

imo the gaps are too big between the hood and front fenders, and the paint is off a lil... I think if you completed the aggressive look with a new front/rear bumper it would compliment the hood nicely tho.

Thanks for the input, guys. Couple of things to mention:
The paintwork (although it may look like it doesnt match) is spot on. I'll take more pictures in the sunlight but most of the vairance is from lighting. It did take a lot of work at the body shop as the clear coat has to be prep'd for paint and there were a lot of pinholes that would have shown up (I guess this is common for clear'd CF). The fitment it decent. The gaps are about the same as the OEM hood. However, it took a lot of work at the body shop adjusting the hood and the fenders to get the gaps even. As others have mentioned with the GTR hood, it does sit a little high in the front (I'll post pictures tomorrow). However, the OEM hood sat too low. The body shop i took it to is by far the best in the area and they work mostly on BMW's and Mercedes. The tech was saying that the newer BMW's don't line up as well as they used to and he actually adjusted the fenders and bumper better that they were from the factory. All in all, I am happy with the fitment. However, I would not suggest anyone doing it themselves (especially if it's painted to match a light color as it will stand out more). The "slats" or "vents" are not open and are entirely for show which kind of bothers me. I like how the vents on the Vorsteiner hood are functional. One thing I really like about the OEM hood is how clean it is with no vents up top (toward the windshield). If you remmeber the E46 hood, it did have these vents. The Seibon hood actually added these back in which i don't understand. See the circled part in the picture below. Considering I am $1800 into this hood, I think I'll keep it on for now. However, I have my eye on the Vorsteiner. |

Still don't have the exhaust and diffuser but I just got the DHL tracking info that it shipped this week. I will post that up as soon as I get it on. After that, the only thing missing is a front lip!!

The CF slats may work on a darker car. Ohh well, Your car will be awesome, just wait for those quads to come in the mail.

It's not bad, but the vents are just a little too much for my taste. It's also puzzling why they added the cabin air intake vents near the windshield when the 1 Series doesn't need them.

GOOD LORD, now I know what it looks like. I think it's a tad aggressive though.. like the vents are M3 sized on a 1er. just my $.02

IMO, the hood looks out of place without all the other aggressive parts from a GTR styled car. Add just a front lower lip, custom wheels with some lip and a proper rear valence; you'll be in business.
I'm sure this is a work in progress; I think the end will justify the means. Can't wait. |

Makes me want my vented hood NOW! That's too bad to hear about the vents, my engine seems to run real hot in this weather so I am looking forward to having some ventilation.

I think the size of the vents/slats make it a tad too busy for such a small hood surface area. Add the bulge, and it doesn't really make it any better. I can see why you did it though, it goes along with the aggressive theme of your car.

Actually, no! They aren't vents! Not functional at all unless you take the CF inserts out and then you would just have two big oval holes in the hood!
