How much time do you have in to building yours and how long do you think it would take to build once you got on a roll building a few of them? I know there's a lot of time involved in the curing of the epoxy and whatnot, but am curious about the actual hands-on time involved...
It seems like these types of enclosures are generally pretty expensive, but I don't want to call them "over-priced," because I don't know how long it takes to build one...

but in all seriousness, a fair price for these quality boxes is $250 shipped, figure its gonna be $50 in materials, $20-30 or shipping and the rest would be labor since its prob 2-3 hours of work easily think most people would be happy to fit a 10w3 or a 10w6, since like you said thats the best considering size restrictions def carpet would look the best, so it looks like it came from factory that way this is my current set up on my G35, these boxes were made the same way as what i'm trying to start now, and became extremely popular and the guy who made them made a killing, so you have the possibility of making a good bit of money, just by doing something you like |

Alright guys, I'm gonna start making some of these enclosures. I gotta pick up the material today. I'll post more details later on today once I pick everything up I need. I'm definitely thinking under $300 shipped for these enclosures.

So here's the details....these enclosures will take me approx 2-3 days each to make (unfortunately my full time job gets priority). They will pretty much be made as they are ordered. The base of the enclosure is made of 3/4" MDF while the sides are made out of fiberglass cloth/mat. The speaker ring will be made out of 3/4" MDF as well (unless your sub requires 1" ie. JL W7).
Here's what you'll be getting.... -Custom fiberglass 10" sub enclosure wrapped in black/grey carpet (very close to the same color as the trunk carpet in our 1ers). Painting can be done as well for an extra $150. -Enclosure mounting hardware -Mounting instructions $285 shipped UPS ground in the US. To order one, PM me your name, address, email address, & subwoofer setup. Serious inquires only since these will be made to order & I am not asking for a deposit! Paypal is the only method of payment unless you're local & want to pay in cash. Another note is that I am going to be on vacation to FL starting this Wednesday for 1.5 weeks. I should be able to have 1 enclosure done by that time which is already spoken for. I will start building all other orders as soon as I come back. Feel free to contact me with any questions! Thanks! I received mine the other day, guys... This thing is TOO sweet. I'm waiting to get my camera back from a friend tomorrow so that I can take some pics and do a thorough review. In short, I can assure anyone that orders, you'll be 100% satisfied! (Sorry, no $$$ back from me... just a figure of speech!)

Glad you liked it!! Did you already install it? How's the W7 sound in there? I can't even imagine what the W7 sounds like in our cars. I'm running the W6 and it already pounds if I turn it up too much. Hope all went well & I'm looking forward to your review. Thanks again, Ben |

I actually had the thing installed within 2 hours of getting it home on Monday... Unfortunately, I'm waiting for my slacker friend to get my camera back to me! Overall, the install was very straight-forward and no-hassle. And the enclosure fits like a glove! If it wasn't for me being very particular about how I ran my speaker wire, sealed up the wire hole and the "interesting" mounting that's involved for a W7, it would have been a 1 hour job, tops. As for the sound, I definitely had to turn up the amp a little more (it was only set at 1/3 gain) due to switching from a ported to sealed enclosure; however, the sound is SUPER tight now and it pounds even harder than before. There are more details on this, but I'll save them for my review. Anyway, I couldn't be happier with the results. My amp had more than enough juice to compensate for the changes we made and the system sounds better than ever! I honestly think that Premium HiFi combined with a 500/1 amp and a properly tuned W6 or W7 in this enclosure could be the most ideal setup for a 1er. Sorry for the quality, but here's an iPhone pic with crappy lighting to hold everyone over: Thanks again!

I tried to PM you, but the system won't let me yet since I am a new user.
I'm interested in getting one of these made for my 2011 135i Coupe. Can you PM or email me at bdoherty at yahoo.com? Thanks! Quote:

TPLSM3 got your message MrClean15
you will love his enclosures, works amazing, fits perfectly! I get so many compliments on mine! I am modifying it to be a quick release install like my amp tray to take out all my stereo stuff while i am at the track

Hi guys. I have a E81 and I got some questions for you.
My system is composed by: Tweeter Morel MT23 + Midrange Morel Hybrid Ovation 4 ---> Orion XTR 800.4 Sub Morel Ultimo 10 ---> Zapco Studio 500 I have another Zapco Studio 500 and I wanna dedicate it to the new woofer. At home I got 2 Morel Elate 9 but the installation is difficult, they don't fit in the original enclosure so I must create a new box... BTW, I read in 3d that many guys use the SWS 8 but I read that is not a great deal in presence of a sub in the trunk... the question is, is possible use the SWS as woofer?? No as sub... I got also a PXA 701 and DVA 9861 |

I finally got the enclosure from TPLSM3 all installed in my car and it sounds great! The build quality of his enclosure is incredible. Once installed, it looks like it BELONGS there in the trunk! :-)
