Cool! Obviously Scott is going to have these on his car for Ralph... He's on his way to O'Fest though. What about the Berk car? Wish I was out that way to help.
Bummer about the additional wait tho. |

Scott's car is running 17's right now. When a full set of 18's come in, we are going to do back to back testing of the staggered 18's vs. the square 17's. If our 17x8.5's come in any time soon, then they'd run those instead of the CH's.
I have to do photo and fitment testing here first. After that, I'll send the two wheels down to Berk. They can't can't test them at the track yet, since it's not a complete set. Strength is a non issue since these are about 705KGS load rating, which is above the VIA requirement. So it's purely tire/fender clearance. I'm bummed about the weight too. You can tell I really didn't want to take pre-orders, but it just would not have been possible AT ALL to get this custom rear fitment going. You guys have been a huge part of the development of this wheel! |

All 5 sample wheels were supposed to ship out at once. I'm not sure what the issue is, but it looks like they are coming one at a time as they fire up each mold. so it may take a week to get all the sizes.
The first wheel they are sending is the most important. The 18x9.5" et62 sample wheel in the Anthracite finish. Before boxing it up they took a quick photo of the wheel. It's not very flattering, so I'll obviously post more shots of it when it arrives. We were set to get the wheel tomorrow, it might be Thursday instead, I won't know until they forward the tracking number. This angle makes the wheel look totally flat, which is not the case as the 2D drawings shot it has a slight concave face. You can only do so much at et62 though. I'm looking forward to getting this onto a scale as it's supposed to be around 18.5lbs. That could be off from final production, but by very little up or down. |

Here is sample image the factory snapped of the 18x9" et42 wheel. Terrible picture quality but at least the angle doesn't make the wheel look convex. UPS shows the 18x9.5" wheel is scheduled to arrive today, I hope it's not signature required. It's not posted yet on UPS, but I should have this 18x9" wheel by tomorrow I believe.

18x9.5" et62 sample weighted in at 17.7lbs We'll see if it passes certification as is. Personal experience shows it can take an extra 1lbs of material to get things to pass sometimes. Although I have very high hopes for this extra high offset, since it puts very little load onto the spokes due to the low angle. No reason to speculate further at this time.
for comparison the 18x9" et42 sample (NON1 SERIES FITMENT)wheel weights in at 18.4lbs since there is added hub material. Last edited by Eddy@ApexWheels; 09-28-2009 at 03:55 PM.. |

Looks good!
In comparison, the stock style 261 and 264 (18x8.5") rear wheels on our cars weigh 26.2 lbs. - versus these 17.7lb and larger 18x9.5" wheels That's HUGE in terms of unsprung weight, and seat of the pants acceleration, and less spinning mass to stop with your brakes (and a wider contact patch). So, you'd be losing over 30 lbs on wheels alone, plus gaining major amounts of traction by the fatty tires these will enable us to run. When do you think you'll get some of these mounted up, Eddy? |

hmm..
if it were me... I'd put the 235/40 on the 8.5... scrounge up some 18x9 E36 offset wheels to put the 245/40's on and put the 265/40's on the 9.5's.. wish they were 265/35 though. 275/35 would be cool to see as well on the 9.5's Will likely have issues w/ the 9's & 245's unless your test rig has coilovers. |

There is no reason why you couldn't use a 245/265 setup with these wheels. All you would need is a little additional negative camber up front which this car needs anyways.
