car got broken into
I came out of the gym only to open my door and find window pieces on my seats. The passenger window was smashed in and whoever did it took my radar detector and all of the car's manuals. I'm pissed. The cops were right around the corner and cuz another guy's BMW also got smashed into. They said it was the 3rd time it happened tonight. I want to break some heads. Time to call the insurance. Anyone think I can get anything out of this? Like make enough to fix my window and upgrade the car? sigh...I just want the car to be back to normal at this point.
I fully vacuumed the seats and carpets. Then took a grass blower and aired out the inside. I still don't know what to do about the tiny glass fragments on the paint. Any suggestions? I don't want to scratch the paint. |

shoot I am sorry to hear that. People are retarded low lifes sometimes. I would almost rather they take the entire car then get a new one with the gap insurance. Once things like that happens it kills the enjoyment of the car. the crappy thing is if you caught someone doing that to your car then beat them up to get them to stop taking your car I bet you would go to jail as well for assault..lol the laws seem to favor criminals these days. I was a reserve cop years back and I saw it happen to a guy that beat the living hell out of an intruder in his home, and he got sued by the guy and lost...unreal. The justice system is all messed up. If you catch someone breaking into your house or car they should be fair game.

a break-in for a radar detector? crap, maybe i should start taking mine down when i park at night
as for your paint, i'd do a long rinse without a nozzle, then a rinse with a nozzle, then a very gentle wash using a separate rinse bucket

LOL...ya I guess so, but then you have their family to deal with still. Some of my friends are still LAPD and they tell me all the time about families of gang bangers that sue the city for killing their murdering sons that tried to kill a cop....and WIN!

The tint does nothing. From what he said, This lowlife was targeting BMW's since his was the 3rd one the same night. Just hide everything you have even though it is annoying. I would recommend you check the gym to see if they have any security cameras in the parking lot. Take it to the place where people replace your window, they will actually clean it out for you since they got professional instruments to clean out the pieces of glass.

Sucks to hear. Do you have an alarm (not that it would guarantee safety)?
People will break into cars for the littlest things. It's so easy to do and get away with. I remember a guy had a backpack on the floor of his passenger side. He had his laptop in it, but the thief wouldn't know that. The guy went into a restaurant at a mall to grab lunch real quick and someone broke his window and stole his backpack in seconds. The worst part is it was in broad daylight (lunch time) with people all over the place. There were witnesses who saw it happen, but the guy was gone before the police came. Bottom line is never leave anything remotely of value visible in your car. Portable Navs, iPods, and Radar detectors are easy money for a thief.

I was actually thinking of installing the BMW alarm next month, I guess I shoulda pulled the trigger on that sooner. Ordered a new glass from BMW today for $88.03 but they were going to charge me about $350 for install. I think I'll try to install it myself or get someone else to do it around here.
As for replacements, I had a Escort Passport 8500 but now its the perfect time for me to get that Valentine V1 I've had my eye on for awhile now. |

Should be a simple claim on insurance.
It made me take my Escort out of my car last night, after watching some loser walk around my neighbors car twice. I'd think twice before I bought a V1 over the 8500 or the new REDLINE. |
