But you could use the Macht Schnell emulation module to remedy that problem, right? The deviant stitching and stitch design on the upper part of the BMW seat really make me want to dish the money out for it.

The BMW Performance seats ARE the Recaro Sportster seats, with leather (versus alcantara) covering, and minus airbags. Either seat is gorgeous though. I've sat in both versions, between Will Turner's 135i, and an e92 that had the Sportsters in it. However, I cannot see how they are half the weight, by just removing the airbag. You sure about that, Tom?

BMW Performance seats also have the heater option which could account for some of the additional weight.

Its mostly from the electronics/airbags (previously located in the doors on e46 models) located underneath and on the bolsters of the stock seat cushions.
