Speed Compensated Volume Error? 128 Conv
"Professional" system on 2010 128 Conv w/SAT --
No matter what number I set it at it doesn't seem to increase in volume at increased speed. It didn't do it before, and it doesn't do it since we had the Radio flashed to correct the "Acquiring"/no SAT music problem. When I press "Gong", the radio volume momentarilly increases to a loud level & plays the gong sound so I can adjust the gong volume over the loud speed compensated radio volume setting (I guess), but I can hear no increase in volume as the cars speed increases in normal use. |

I have mine set at 0...honestly the speed compensation system in this car sucks...the one in my 2001 mountaineer is better. It does change the volume, but not enough with the top down to compensate for the increased wind noise. And top down is how I run, so I gave up with it and use the steeringwheel controls.
Anyway, where on the island are you? |

I've turned mine up since I took delivery and will probably turn it up again. It seems to adjust reasonably well if the top is up but does not go up enough with the top down. The HVAC obviously knows when the top is down. But not the radio. So I use the wheel volume buttons too. I'd like to get it down to no more than a couple bumps, however.

We lived in Massapequa Park (L.I. NY) for 22 years until last Friday 4/2/10. Now we live in the Ft. Lauderdale FL area... Perfect for a convertible.

I have an E91 and it's not any better in my car, for what it's worth.
By the way, to be somewhat pedantic, you don't have the "Professional" system - you have the "Professional" head unit. That can come with either base audio or Logic 7 in 2010. You probably have base audio - in which case, I would suspect your gong is always loud regardless of where you set your gong level? |

Yes. Base radio. The gong isn't objectionally loud. I suspect the driver's gong vol level adjustments only work relative to louder radio volumes. At standard listening levels up to the German's pre determined "loud" radio volume level, the gong volume level is not user adjustable.
...anyway, there is no volume increase in this car as the car's speed increases. In my Benz, its subtle but certainly noticeable by anybody listening. |
