BBS 17x8 ET40...work on 135i for track wheels?

I've got a set of track wheels for my 95 M3 that are BBS RKs in 17x8 ET 40. Do you think these would work with 225/45/17s BFG R1s on a 135? I know overall tire diameter is essentially equal to the stock diameter. Don't know how far off they are from the stock offsets. Would be nice to be able to avoid having to buy a second set of wheels for the 135i as well.

5-2-10 update: Test fit was good front and rear. Clears the brakes just fine. Just brought one over....here is a couple pics of it on the front. Doesn't look too bad either. That will save some $$.

Sounds like it should work well to me. Offsets should be fine. If they don't clear the brakes in the front then you should be able to use a 5mm spacer. Then if that rubs the fender, no problem since you need camber if you are gonna track the car anyways.

What size tires were you running for the winter?

I'll likely just have to go, pick them up, and try them out I guess. I was just hoping to avoid a 2 hour round trip if possible (a friend of mine stores my track car, tires, etc.)

225/45's

Stock suspension...

Had quite a bit of weight in the rear and never had any rubbing issues... But, since it was winter I obviously wasn't doing any high speed cornering so I can't really speak to rub in the front in those conditions.

I'll give it a try next weekend then and do some spirited turns, braking etc. in a large parking area of a company that is closed on the weekends. that should give me a fairly decent idea. Just did not want to take the time and effort if it was going to be an obvious failure

I run 17x8 (offset 40) OZ Ultralegerra rims specifically for my summer/track setup. 235/40 R17 tires on all four corners. Absolutely no rubbing even when pushing it on the track on stock suspension.

This is great news for me! I'd love to be able to direct the $$ I was going to have to spend for a track wheel set up to something else for the car. I've already put Dunlop star specs on the stock wheels and those will be great in case of any wet track days. Now I can just keep the BBS wheels mounted with some good R-Comps and throw them on the trailer with whichever Bimmer is going it for some track time

Early on I tried a set of BBS RGR 17x8 and 17x9 offset 40 and 42 and they didn't have enough clearance for the front brake calipers :-/

That would be a bummer.... Guess I would just have to get smaller brakes

I'll just have to see how the RKs may or may not have more clearance. Here I am, fingers crossed!
