1M Onboard Video: 1-Series Concept M
Here is a track-driving Video:
Translation: The driver first is saying that the interior is still not finished and that the press-man should not give it to much attention. Then the press-man says that the car goes really much better than the 135i and that it must have a powerful engine at about 350PS (345HP) as it is an M. Then the driver says that this car is more about handling than only HP.. but he was then saying that it has much power as it is expected from M but he will not reveal any specs right now. The press-man also noticed that the car handles really good and he said that he can feel that it is much lighter than the 135i. |

Great find, and worth a new thread, IMO.
Best regards, south

Did you hear them talking around the one-minute mark...something about the performance is good, then he makes a reference to 350 PS...that's Pferdestärke in German or horsepower to us English-speaking guys.... 350 PS is about 345 HP.
Although I must say we need a German-speaking person to clarify...Is he saying it feels like 350PS or it is 350PS??? |

Isnt that the same track Top Gear went to test the M3, C63 AMG and the Audi RS4?
Sounds good, but sounds like an N55. |

Nice but I agree too quiet for me but then I’m used to a boxer with aftermarket exhaust. I’d actually like to see an exhaust with a valve tied to the sport settings but that would add weight/complexity.

It really does sound quiet, not necessarily bad, just not suited for this particular car. I was hoping for some real nice in your face induction and exhaust melodies. I vote for less sound deadning, yay!

Counting the time in the gears, it sounds relatively quick. Maybe as quick as my 1er was in ~335rwhp trim? Quicker than a "slow" tune like Dinan, at least, but it sounds slightly slower than a 370 rwhp 1er, as expected. Maybe 108-110 MPH traps? Not slow, quicker than an E46 M3 or Z4MC without a doubt. Sounds like it's a bit slower than an E92 M3, but not by a HUGE margin... Depends a bit on what gear ratios are.

Does sound and look a bit slower than an e92, but it's obviously really difficult to say for sure.
Agree with everyone that it's way too quiet and civilized. Sounds like a Braun beard trimmer to me. SCOTT - please have the team consult with the guys at Maranello on exhaust tuning. I'm okay (understanding of the times) with ///M cars going to turbo setups, but dedicate some R&D dollars to getting them to sound like performance machines please.

Also agree, but listen to the growl when slowing down to corner. Im not a track guy so I dont know the terminology. Listen at 45-48 sec, its a deep base - lovin' it!

This car is being marketed as a bit more "Raw" than other M offerings, let's hear that exhaust and intake! This is still very tame, but more agressive and exotic than what's currently on the car: This is an awesome sound too, and I'm pretty sure still below 95 db, and even quieter with cats, I'd imagine:

Sounds exactly the like the 335 I drove a year ago. Nothing different. I think my N/A 330 CI ZHP sounds more willing to rev (shorter final drive, ZHP lightweight flywheel) and exciting with the ZHP exhaust than that.

Nice Track! Seems very nimble but then again this is not the final product. We will have to wait and see!
