Yea I'm still waiting till my comp says bring it in. I have about 13,500miles on it and I bought it in July 09. The comp says 15,000 or 01/2011.
After reading the post(can't find it at the moment) about the guy who bought a BMW at the start of the new maint. interval and he had 225,000 miles on it with no problems I'm sold on trusting the comp. He also said he sold it at that point and the next owner still has no problems at 235,000 miles.

i dunno bout my dealer though. I took it to New century BMW and after my 1st yr oil change they resetted the thing for me. They told me that i had to wait till 5k miles or 7 months whichever one comes last from the time of service for me to bring it back in again. I already placed another 10k since 7 months ago for my last service and is due in aug. Probably never go back to that dealer or buy any cars from that dealer again. |

BMW's maintenance will do the oil service at the prescribed mileage or at the 1yr time interval. I'd do it now as the chemistry of the oil has changed enough during the 12 months that it needs changing. I was a quart low a couple of weeks ago, so I added a quart. I'll be taking the 1 in in the next couple of weeks. |

The info is in your car. You need to use the BC button to scroll and find the service information. It tells you exactly when to do what to the car. |

As far as waiting a year between oil changes, I guess if it was a lease car, go for it. But these cars really need more frequent oil changes to keep out the sludge and perform. The oil isn't the issue, but there is just only so much that a filter can hold. I look at the 'free' BMW service as a partnership. They do some, I do some... |
