Does this work on our cars? Golf tee mod

Found this and wondering if we can do the same thing with our 1's?

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=80661

Looks even easier than the golf tee mod.

I think it does, but I don't for one second see how that is any easier than pulling off the vacuum line.

I didn't even "tee" mine... i just folded it and hit it with a zip tie.

Thats how I did it to mine. Makes it super easy to undo it later if I have to send the 1er to the dealer for whatever reason, just a quick snip.

OP, I've heard about that option to the Golf Tee Mod, but I also read rumors that it might throw a code.

I've heard that this option throws codes

just do the zip tie method. its the best, easiest, and safest way.

It may throw an internal code (not a CEL), but any dealership giving you trouble should explain why BMW sells a performance exhaust without this valve which results in the same code thrown. I.E. it's harmless.

I just plugged the solenoid and found a solid rubber grommet to replace the one the hose normally routes through (since I no longer have the valve/hose, I don't want any spray to get into the truck area via the hole, however small it may be).

yes. theres a long thread about this. i pulled the whole line off, or rather it fell off, no codes for a 1.5 years now. been in and out of dealership for service, no prob. a little deeper rumble to it, not too noticeable.

Zip tie FTW. No codes. Had my car in a couple times, they didn't mention it or remove it.

Go to Pepboys, or similar and buy two caps and one extender. Throw one of the caps on the cylinder and the extender and cap on the hose. Run the hose to rest on the hole for the mud flaps behind your wheel.

Yes you have to spend $2, but it is a more elegant solution and ensures that nothing from the road gets somewhere it shouldn't.

I have left this mod on my car when I've taken it in for service and haven't had an issue - because there is nothing this mod can do to damage the car. I wouldn't be pissed if the dealer undid my mod, but I can put it back pretty darn quick.

there is a valve that only opens after a certain RPM, w/ this mod is always open. so the car is louder. BMW did this to keep the car quiet in the low revs

Simple, nearly free, way to slightly increase your stock exhaust's note.
