License Plate Frame

So I removed mine yesterday after debadging to get my car to look 100% clean (and because the dealership isn't paying me any money to advertise for them).

But I don't know, something looks wrong without a frame.. I had a chrome frame on my AW (only chrome piece in the car) and I actually liked it..

Thought I'd post to see what you guys suggest. I'm thinking of maybe a glossy black frame? No idea where I'd find that though.. help!

Glossy black, man. I have AW, also - looks great with the trim. I think this is the one I have:

You can find glossy black frames anywhere. Walmart probably has them, or any auto parts store. The dealership has them, but way overpriced.

yeah BMW makes one too, I thought it was a rip-off at $30 but hey I guess it's not that bad then...

by the way you have the same exact car as I do, 2011 135i AW/SB/Grey Poplar

but mine is manual and sport package, not m-sport. I actually like my savannah beige headliner, but I wonder what the m-sport looks like with this color combo.. do you have any pics? and if you could include pics of the frame mounted as well that would be awesome

99.5% of people who autocross here on island have these plates on their daily drivers/work cars/auto-x cars. Makes it easy to spot fellow drivers! They're given out free at the events to anyone who drives and would put it on any of their cars.

I would get the plain. You already have the BMW roundel right above the license plate, don't need another "BMW" icon.

I would get the plain. You already have the BMW roundel right above the license plate, don't need another "BMW" icon.

I'm sorry for being such a downer but I hate license plates (or anything on the car) containing sentences, opinions, etc.. haha

Anyway, has anyone ever seen glossy black frames at walmart, advance auto parts, etc? I can only remember ever seeing them in a crappy matte plastic finish..

I normally do too, but I don't mind advertising for the SCCA and autocross if it gets more drivers involved! It's working so far, people see it at the BMW meets and start asking about autocross. I've gotten some people hooked on it because of that!

I see.. I'd actually love to try it but I unfortunately live in the middle of the shitty state of pennsylvania and anticipate there is nothing around here..? Is there a way to check if there is? Is AutoX a modality of competition or a specific nation-wide event?

Go to autox4u.com they have almost all autoxs in the tristate area and pa

also check with your local bmwcca and pca chapters

The SCCA is a national organization. There are events in every state (at least every region) so I'm sure there is one near you. You said middle, so maybe this one is your region?

I'll try to get some pics up. Regarding the BMW Roundel on the frame - personally, I'm not a fan. The car already has the Roundel just above - no need to slap it on there again.

I got a plain glossy black metal frame off of eBay for like $15 shipped. It even came with glossy black screw covers.

ok just got a glossy black frame from advance auto parts today, $8 and looks great

just sucks they didn't have any black screws, it's going to be a pain going out just to shop for those

I used this until my accident, which dented it, but i love this one. its metal and not that crappy plastic + it comes with black caps to go over the screws. Best part, its $13
