Thinkin of getting the new Samsung Fascinate, any issues?
I tried to google it to see if this phone will work properly with the BMW intergrated phone system in the iDrive. I know the incredible had issues. Anyone have it or know anything about limitations. I went to a verizon store and all the girl knew to say about the phone is "It has really bright colors"!

Ya that phone runs on androis 2.0 which works but the Fascinate uses 2.1 and so does the captivate. They do not work with full function yet. BMW is slow to get up to date. They said it may take a few months.

I have Android on my Garminfone. It is a hybrid version, custom written by Garmin. But most of the phone functions work fine. The directory reads off the phone, voice activated calling is fine, and incoming calls read the directory and show who is calling.
The only issue when on bluetooth is entertainment audio. I am not able to stream music using bluetooth, nor can I stream the navigation audio. If I plug the phone into the aux port, audio works fine as long as bluetooth is turned off. So not a perfect solution, but workable. |

That is weird why the fascinate wont work then being 2.1. maybe it is because it has bluetooth v3.0 and yours is v2.1 just like the Droid X and Droid 2 which work fine with the BMW system? I tried it with my girlfriends dads Fascinate and it connected to his Plantronics ear piece and he dialed with his phone and it worked but the voice dialing wouldnt work for some reason and the phonebook contacts had issues downloading and then when it did voice dialing a name did not work either. So it does pair and you can dial but for some reason only using the ear piece. When he shut it off and made sure just the phone was pairing it wouldnt work.

The incredible is not an approved phone yet and it uses the bluetooth v3.0 or higher which is having issues with connectivity just like the latest iphones and android phones. Seems to be a random thing though. Some work and some dont.

Only got the phonebook to appear once. the voice dialing just would not work. the search device in the phone found the car and the same code and the car found the phone downloaded the phonebook then it said paird but not connected on both the car and the phone. shut the phone off then tried again and it said connected then moments later it disconnected from the car. the phone threw an error message of some kind. Again this was not my phone so I cant try it again. I may just buy the phone and see what happens and take it to my dealer to see if they can get it to work. if not i ill just return it.

Man... one thing Samsung has the iphone beat is the SWYPE feature... HOLY SMOKES... I have an iPhone 4G and I would love it if someone can make swype work with iphone as a default keyboard like the Samsung and not a third party app.

I don't discount that swype is an application but unlike Samsung where Swype is integrated with the main keyboard (ie, emailed, sms, etc...) apple isn't There is a swype like app but again its a third party app and its a work around, ala, copy and paste... not as efficient/functional in comparison to the samsung device.

I have the Fascinate. It pairs just fine. Contacts pull up fine, making/receiving calls works fine. But that's all I've tried honestly. Haven't tried using Voice Dialing or anything that fancy... I wanted to try and hold out for a Verizon iPhone.. we'll see how that goes.
