135 Escort 9500ci install

We did an install of a 9500ci into a forum members' 135i last week. Here are some pics:

Front shifters:

Terminated cables to precise length:

Modded cluster (LEDs in Turn Signal arrows flash red with system triggers):

USB port for database updating:

Display in RV mirror:

Control panel:

Missing fog light switch is Mute button:

I'll post the rear pic when I have time to photoshop the license plate.

I like the control panel mount. Does the client's mirror not display navigation compass?

How is headlight operation affected by activating the mute button?
1. Shifters need to be mounted there based on natural rack of the front end of the 135i

2. headlight operation? not sure what you mean by this since the headlights havent be messed with, just an used button which was converted into a mute button.

3. I am pretty sure the client doesnt have the compass, but if so it should not cause and issues.

P.S. Ken i like that mirror better than mine! hahaha

The 1er front fascia does not yield many effective mounting places.
I have my rear fog light enabled and made the power button the one just above it, so it is independent of the light switch.

Yep, the 1er doesnt have the best location for the shifters, but they work. I was saved a week ago with mine!

Talking

Missing fog light switch is Mute button:

Apologies to VP-E, he's always confused by this advanced technology.

The upper right button was converted to a power button for the Passport, not mute. Lower right button is rear foglight and we activated that for the customer at the same time. Same as Mineo77's.

I would love to see a video of the indicators after a laser / radar hit.

Kudos on the install! Looks great! As others have mentioned, I would love to see it in action.

Yes, we took some video of a 2011 M3 we just completed in a similar fashion. We're waiting for the software to enable editing and uploading. It's gone to the financial committee to see if there is room in the quarterly budget...cuz the app costs $4.99

yep, those buttons do not move unless you unclip them (little plastic taps on the button to keep it from moving/rattling since they are unused), then use a bumper behind the button to contact the switch, etc, etc, etc...plus VP Fiberglass was schooled by Ish how to do this well with a little slap style

I'm on the east coast and looking to do a similar install, although not sure if any local installers are capable of that level of perfection . Anybody know what mirror is used there - if it's a standard BMW mirror with compass or if it's been further modified to increase the size of the alert window?

Thanks very much for the answer. Either of you Virginia guys know of a good install shop? I've had a couple bad experiences in NoVA, might venture across the river where I assume they've got some more experience with radar detectors. Definitely settled on a 9500ci which is the only installed Escort that is non-detectable by Spectre. Here's a good comparo that is buried on their website: http://www.escortradar.com/escort-comparison-chart.php
