Spotted in Germany
I just returned from two weeks in Germany. I saw 120d hatchbacks everywhere. One of my colleagues got one for a rental, but I got a SEAT. I even saw a X1 drive by.

I went to the IAA car show in Frankfurt last year to see the intro of the X1 and the GT. The X1 was mobbed so I really couldn't get a good look at it. When it drove by on the street it looked like a little brother to the X3. I had to read the emblem on the back to make sure that it really was an X1.

The whole IAA show was a mob scene, especially the hall for Porsche/Lotus/Tuner cars.
I am always amazed at the cost of BMWs in Germany. I don't think that anyone in the US would pay $48,160 for a base X1. A 2011 X1 here has a projected base price of $33,500 loaded with toys, about 40% less than an X1 in Germany without any toys. My colleagues in Germany said that the Euro and Dollar price numbers for my 128i were about the same.

I have seen a few of them around Belgium and think they look pretty good. Definitely better than the older X3's, but they certainly could be mistaken for a new body style X3 if they were not sitting beside each other. The wheels on that last white are a bit much, but in generally it seems like a nice looking car. I haven't really seen the interior, so no comment on that.
WOW at that sticker price... more than a 50% increase in price with options... is BMW trying to emulate Porsche? If BMW brought it to the US with a low-30s base price, it may sell reasonable well.

www.bmw.de And that is... before you add any options! Cars over here (in DE) are about 35% more than what they cost in the USA. Ok there is a 19% sales tax... but still... the Germans just charge more over here bc they can! |

What I meant was that if the base price in Germany was 32,550 euros here it it would be 32,550 Dollars, about 40% less. The US cars also include lots of toys in the base price that cost extra in Europe.
