I would not buy an 1m if I owned a 135. Makes perfect since to me because of several factors.
But then again even though I love the engine and the just right dimensions of the 135, I thought it looked like a pregnant pigglet. So with my anti flame suit on, I want to go on the record to say that 1series owners should not comment on the 1m's looks because they obviously know nothing about astetics. The 1 m has the perfect size feel of the 135, a more powerful engine, but more importantly it looks bad ass. Basically fixing everything that made me not want to buy a 135.

1M is an awesome car, I just wish it got the same attention as they did for the X5M and X6M. They may have reused the 4.4L V8 from the standard X5, but they squeezed another 155HP for that behemoth, how many of those are going to see the track? Its this sort of thing that disappoints me about the new M cars. The handling on the new 1M will be phenomenal after what they've done to it, but maybe if they gave a 1/4 of the thought towards its engine as they did for that confused SAV, I think there would be an even bigger interest towards this car. Its one thing to make a great car, and another to make it legendary. Which would you rather have? I still like it though, its growing on me and its potential modability is a plus even though its stock output may be uninspiring.

I like the car, especially in black, though blue would be my first choice. I will not buy a street car without a sunroof though. I won't even buy a car for my wife without one. I use one all the time everyday. It is a personal thing.
I know of at least one person that got a 135i without a sunroof so conversely maybe I can bribe someone at BMW to help me get a sunroof. I mean, I see sat and idrive in pictures, which I think is getting away from the "back to the basics" concept. Sat probably is not essential to find your way and why in a high performance manual transmission drivers car would you want to be distracted away from the driving experience with Idrive? Why not a sunroof then? The weight is not that much for a street car. Oh well I guess we all just are different. I think the the car is great and if I did not have a 135i I might be more excited. I understand the huge improvements made to the chassis, brakes, and looks but they are still pretty close in specification when compared to the 135i. I am now caught between the 1M and the F30 M3, which will have around 100 more horsepower, only around 100 pounds more weight, and will probably let me order a sunroof. |

- n54 is great motor, but it encourages straight line driving versus road courses - which what M cars were known for
- added alcantara to the dash = weight = the enemy in motorsports - i thought this car was about the e30 m3 which was ALL about motorsports? guess not - made the oem 1 series trim alcantara - VERY nice since the 1 series was, no offense, kind of cheap on the interior - no cf roof is a let down (i understand the testing) - the slits up front break up the bumper a bit too much for my liking - that fender line is retarded. just make a wider fender. - sport seats w/stitch = fail! give me bmw performance seats but w/out the 5k price tag!!!! - that rear end is just disgusting to look at.

There's stuff I don't like, namely that color. Without question black or white will look infinitely better IMO. That orange color is just a swing and a miss.
The mirrors also look stupid on this chassis. The only mirrors that belong on an E82 are the 2008-10 ovals (also seen on E46M). Luckily that could probably be changed if you wanted. And finally, the fake side vents are just, well, fake. The M3 has functional side and hood vents. Silly details for a car most guys will slog back and forth from work in, but if you guys want to labor over the minutia, there you go. Picky picky. Not of fan of turbocharged M cars either. I'd still rather have an M3 past or present. |

I dont think this would be considered true. This was stated many times about the S52 engine used in the US E36 M3 and early MZ3s. I owned one, and heard the comments over the years. The power output was not that different than the other I6 engines.

That's true of any performance car not just BMWs. That argument doesn't hold water.

Anyone notice the weight difference between the 135 and 1M? The 1M is about 80 lbs lighter... this probably means the power seats and moonroof right? I hope power seats are an option.
I'd like to see some options and different color shots. I like it but I won't be 100% sold until I see it in person/hear, drive it. It looks very, very promising though.

The rear tires are taller which makes the 3.15 gear ratio necessary. It really has about tge same effective gear ratio as the stock 135i 3.08

BMW M3 Coupe is like 58,400 USD MSRP in the States and 71,700 in Canada (our currency is ~0.99)...that's roughly 23%...using those guide lines, the 1M in Canada should be around 56,500...hm...that's TT-S range.

The aggressive front treatment The fender flares Dislike: The rear stance looks like it's sticking up its butt The interior is weird, don't like the gauges Verdict: Would make for an interesting track car in all black (incl rims) with the M livery from the CSL render Unfortunatley I think the Boss 302 has it beat. |

Look carefully at the stitching on the steering wheel. It does not match the rest of the interior? I hope they fix it. It is cool that it has an M steering wheel but with all of the orange stitching it looks cheap and out of place to me.

My minor suggestions: center of seats upholstered with alcantara and leave outside leather. Would probably install KW Clubsport Coilover kit and wheels spacers. Just a bit too much wheel gap for my taste.

Love it! A more aggressive rear spoiler would really set this look off!
