Dackel’s Essen Motor Show pics…
Essen Motor Show 2010
Last Saturday, I went to the Essen Motor Show. This is Europe version of SEMA minus the Las Vegas show girls. lol The tuning show is always interesting. Kind of one part tuned cars, one part old cars and one part flea market. The show runs until this Sunday in case anyone wants to go. I would suggest to drive up the night before(like I did) and see the show all fresh. Because you will walk your butt off there! The Messe (convention center) uses all twelve halls – so you will spend all day there. What I like about the shows at Essen is that there is always something for everyone here. In every corner you find something cool to drool over! Ok, onto my photos… Enjoy! Dackel  Mercedes Benz brought out ALL their gullwing autos…                 Concept cars…            Based on a Z4 - I think?! It had a BMW straight six engine…                       What an Orange BEAST! And checkout that M3 is the background!    AKRAPOVIC M3 with a titanium exhaust…                   Carlsson…  The Carlsson C25. Only 25 car will be built. ONE for each country! 6.0L V12 bi-turbo 753 PS, 1150 Nm! Five speed automatic. 0-100kph 3.7 sec. V-Max 347 kph!!! 510K euros!         What an ENGINE!               23’s…              I just LOVED this metallic grey paint!               New Audi A1…         XXXL E-Class….      Opel OPC (Opel Performance Center)   400 PS in a Astra?    LOOK at how much boost they are running!       Audi A7 sportback…           Alfa’s…          A tuned Astra (Golf class)…     Trucks…    BMW is not the only one to put the ECU direct on the engine!        1/4 mile drag car/dining room table! It does 12’s!   Cockpit under turkey!   UK tags…  World’s smallest car…       Real people’s (show) cars…          Bitter…      MINI rennwagen…   TT rally car...     ...         KTM street race car...                   Ein Dackel!   H&R display area…   My favorite car seen at the show!    LOVED the rivet effect…              Short wheel base Sport Quattro…    Tune It Safe – Polizei…                Tune It Safe – eMini…         9ff’s Tiger…               New retro FUCHS Porsche wheels. Great photographs of some beautiful looking girls... err, cars, I meant beautiful looking CARS.
Especially the CLK-GTR. Seems to look a lot better than it did when it was doing back flips at Le Mans. Thanks for sharing the photographs, great to see. Graeme |

Thanks guys. I am glad you all enjoyed my (many) photos. It was a lot of work posting all of those links! lol In the future I will try to limit my photo essays. Essen Motor Show was kind of like my BMW Welt & Museum photos/thread... it is just so hard to decide on what to post and what not to post. So I just posted most everything I shot.
Yes... the mädchen (girls) gives a whole new meaning to the phrase: "Made in Germany"! Dackel |

Living in Germany I have been very fortunate to see rare things. I remember back in 1998 visiting the AMG werk in Affalterbach. It is located on the outskirts of Stuttgart area. While touring the AMG factory I got to see one of the CLK-GTR's being fueled up and taken out on a "road test' via the local autobahn (A81). The test driver said they can easy hit 340 kph in the "street" version. I will never forget how that engine sounded on startup (cold) and how cool that LeMans monster looked pulling away from the AMG factory. Btw... while I was touring the AMG factory I also saw something cool. A one off S-class station wagon based on the old (1998 M.Y.) S-class coupe. It was a V12, S-class wagon built for some shiek in Saudi. I think that is also where almost all of the CLK-GTR's went. I remember our factory tour guide was very upset I saw and asked about that S-class s/w! lol I remember them saying that FIA rules limit the price of the GTR "street car" but... only the first one sold! The first one is one of the beatup "test mules" the rest of the production GTR's were sold for much, much more than the 1.5 Million marks that the FIA rules stated. I think it was more like 2.6 Million marks IF I remember correctly! Dackel |
