How many songs on USB stick?

Wondering if there is a maximum supported number of songs on our systems.
I bought a 64gb patriot usb memory stick on which I have ~2000 songs in one subfolder and it takes what seems like 5 minutes beforem music ever starts playing.
I am using WMA Pro lossless however.

Anyone else have a large (2000+) library and it either starts up quickly or slowly? What format did u use? MP3? AAC? WMA? WMApro?

I have a 4gb stick and it seems to take that long to load as well.

I even tried splitting the songs such that bands had their own subfolders but it seems like load times are directly proportional to the number of tracks, and 2000 songs is plenty but takes forever
