Hopefully the current M3 is still in production when I can afford to have more than one car . There will not be any high revving BMWs after that.

Because tracking doesn't start until the car is loaded. The dealer tells us when. After that we get a tracking code and it's up to us to watch the ship's transit. As of today Steve's and my 1Ms, though they have been built for 3 weeks, have not been loaded on a ship.

Post #8 has a scanned PDF. UK Car Magazine compares 1M to RS3. Sums up with 1M is the better driver's car and RS3 is the better all-rounder - they must display remarkable aptitude when it comes to rocket science. |

Bit crazy comparison but they have a lot of parallels;
- Similar price & performance - Similar tier brands - End of life hurray for the model - Bits borrowed from bigger brother - In the UK where hot hatch is king - the coupe shape probably loses points |

I can see the logic in the comparison on the same basis as Alik's.
What car's will show up in comparo' tests with the 1M? Audi RS3 ( If it comes to Australia ) Audi TTRS ( extra $ ) Porsche Cayman ( A lot more $ for similar spec ) Nissan 370 Z ( if you can afford the 1M would you choose this car? ) Ford Focus RS ( boy racer - not that the 1M isn't a liittle bit BR. Okay, more than a little bit ) Mazda RX8 ( getting on a bit ) Mitsubishi Evo ( different market, ricer image. ) Subaru WRX Sti ( ditto ) HSV / Ford GT ( different market, ) Wonder if it's main rival is the 135i? There simply aren't many small, practical, rear wheel drive, performance cars with a driver focus. The RS3 may be as close as you'll get. Suggestions? As a side note - paid $1.66 for v-power today. |

Cayman (not S) - can be had in low spec for similar money. Most likely better handling but less 'performance'. Also mucho credits for being Porsche! TTRS - a few demos and such floating around with decent discounts. Better 'performance', not much soul. Funnest Audi for me though - more so than R8. |

TTRS will hold golf clubs and it is a classy bit of kit. I haven't driven one so I can't personally comment on driving feel. Haven't had much time in Audis. Have had extensive drives in an RS4 though and it was a revelation. With a little adjustment in driving technique compared to a classic rear drive chassis it is properly fun to punt. IMO has a better torque delivery than an M3 V8. Ultimately the M3 is a better driver's car, especially at or close to the limit. A limit you have to be going psychotically fast to find. Anyway, this is all academic as I have made my decision and I'm hoping I'll be happy with it. |
