About to put a deposit down on new 2011 - Good price?

I asked my dealer whether I should order a new 2012 or if a 2011 with the packages I wanted would be possible in June.. He said he found me a new 2011 with the following specs..

2011 135i
Jet Black
Gray Boston Leather
M Sport Package
Value Package (I think he meant either convenience or premium?)
DCT
Heated Seats
BMW Assist with Bluetooth
1-year Subscription Satellite Radio

And he told me for a 36 month 10k mile lease w/$5,000 down it'll be $426/mo and that's with tax & title included.

I won't have the money to do this until June (unless I can sell my car before that) so I'm going to see if I can put a grand down or something and have 'em hold it for me until then. Someone here at work I'm talking to says I can so I'm going to ask later today but I just want to get you guys' opinion on whether that's a good price or not. I'm also going to ask him for the MSRP & residual value as well since he didn't provide that for me in his email.

Ask him for MF, residual, etc...you need more numbers here for people to tell you how the deal is.

Can you do MSD also? This could lower your payment if you can set aside that money too.

Good luck.

calculate the invoice price of the car and go from there. I'd say anywhere from $0-500 over invoice is fair.

I doubt that the dealer is going to hold the car until June even if you put a substantial amount down. Putting money down is not a contract.

I just got a 2011 135i
Space gray
M-sport
DCT -Automatic
Premium Package
Value Package
Cold weather Package
BMW Assist - Bluetooth

MSRP was $42,100 got it for just over $39,000 which is invoice minus $1,000 incentive
My lease is:
$1500 cash out of pocket for 36 month 10k miles a year for $439/month and payments include the $725 bank fee and $75 paperwork fee.

With out the $1500 out of pocket and zero money due would of been $484 a month

So I think you can do way better. BMW has $1,000 BMW to dealer cash right now, I think its called Build out Cash or something so work that into your price. Find a 2011 as the 2012 went up in price a bit plus lease rates are not looking good right now. Good luck.

total price after I RIPPED HIM A NEW ONE was 39 and some change i cant remember i have to look for exact.... MSRP was $41k and some change

hes ripping you a new one..... Do NOT DO THAT!!!!!!!!! PLEASE!!!

I called around to many dealers and told them to give me their best offer. Other dealers gave me same monthly payment only i had to put down $2000.00!!!!!!!!

That money goes in their pocket and they blow it on cocaine.....
Yeah. I went on True Car and put in the options and it ended up saying I can get the car for $39k and some change at another dealer in Ohio so I I'm going to print out the certificate and say that's the price I want it at. Someone here at work did that at the same dealer I'm going to and they gave him his E92 M3 for $63k instead of the asking price of $68k.

Whoa.. how'd you get it so cheap? I must be getting screwed then considering they're telling me with $5,000 down it's $420/mo and it's the exact same options as you have..

I mean I was definitely not going to give them a dime until I negotiated the final price.. and I told 'em I'm trading in my car because I don't know if I can get the car at this very moment unless I can get a proper price negotiated for my trade-in. I'm upside down on it a like 4 grand.. and unless payments are under $500/mo I'm not going to be doing this right now.. I would have to wait a few more months until I have more money to put down.. so I told 'em (which may have been a mistake on my part) if you can take my trade-in with the negative equity and give me this car for under $500/mo with no more down than I said it's a done deal.

Call them up, and tell them to give you their absolute best price without having to go back and forth. Then, tell them you are calling multiple dealers to get the best deal and that you dont like haggling. the first time i met my salesman was when he delivered the car to my car wash.
True Car already has found the best price for me. I can go straight to that dealer and give them this certificate they provide and they must honor that price ($39,325). Instead I'm just going to go to the dealer I've been working with and give them this certificate and be like hey.. give me this price.. if not I'm just going to go to this other that I know for a fact I'll receive this price.. and if they don't want my business they'll tell me they don't want to honor that price. And then that's that.. haha.

I don't know if any of you have ever used True Car (http://www.truecar.com/) but it's such a good resource when buying a new car..

Yeah that is ridiculous. My dealer told me my car is a few hundred miles away as well.. I hope they don't try to stick me with that, if so I'll just leave.. Haha. I just got a call from the dealer from True Car and said we can talk tomorrow because I got a voicemail.. So if this dealer doesn't work out I know there's another one that will honor the True Car price just a little further away.

When you say 36k out the door, does that include taxes? That seems like a REALLY great deal.

You also got the 6MT though and the DCT was a $1,500 option in 2011.

No, I did not pay tax (military out of state). I refused to pay any fees though (processing, docking,etc.). $36.5k is what I paid, but with CCA rebate, $36 even.

You'll pay the sales tax on the car when you register it in your home state.

That number is several thousand below invoice, dealer must have been very desperate to see that car head off the lot.

That is a crazy deal. A $42k msrp would be about $40k invoice (Mine was $42k msrp with $40k invoice) minus the $1000 incentive going on right now would be $39k price. That means the dealer took a loss of about $2500 then? Looks like you stole that one. Tell us how you got such a good deal? I know a dealer can sell it a little below invoice with getting kickbacks and bonuses from BMW but $2500 below seems like way to much. Or maybe my numbers are way off, I am tired. Did that msrp include the Clear Bra which is about $700-$1500 which the dealer is marking up.

No sales tax in my "home state" so no tax will be paid. I got the deal for two reasons:
1) It is one of the very first '11s, and they still had it on the lot
2) It had the 128i wheels on it. I wanted the 128i wheels for my winter set-up anyways. Not sure why it has them on it, but didn't care for the price they were asking. I haggled a bit, and had them throw in the bra and tint (included in price). Was nervous to drive 9 hours for it, but car was perfect on delivery. Wasn't a demo, and not a scratch on it. I guess I lucked out.

Being upside down will add another $100+ month. I suspect the BMW dealer will offer you a wholesale price because they will not sell it themselves. Do you have the 5K for the down? Sounds to me that the lease price is going to be much higher than you are willing to pay. Good luck.

Yeah I do have the 5 grand cash to put down but that's not enough.. The dealer advised I try to sell it and he will try and lower my down payment
