When I first saw these Blacklines... I thought they would be too dark on my car. But the more I see them... the more I like them. I am so glad I went with the Blacklines vs regular LCI's.

So I guess I should have researched a bit more before buying them. Since I have no OEM Xenon I bought the non Xenon off someone in the forum. Finding out those do not have the illumination, just some plastic pieces inside. I did not install them yet, but I guess they will look nothing like the high black line, correct?

I just made a new topic when its directly related to this.. my mistake. But i have a halogen equipped 2010 128i, and i purchased halogen black lines to install.. i figured okay just plug and play and for the most part thats entirely true.. except that everything works except the parking lights. that bulb works with the brake pedal but i can't get it to light up when i just move the light switch to the parking lights. do i need dealer coding to get these to work?

Your best bet is to order the #282 Blackline kit: bmw p/n 63212225282 You get two blackline tail lamps for xenon cars. It also is a PnP for all US spec halogen 128's. Also... for those guys who have damaged one of their Blacklines and only need to order ONE tail light... here are the single blackline tail light part numbers: 63217327273 (left tail light) 63217327274 (right tail light) Dack

08/2009 build date US market 135i
I've read through this entire thread - but it is still unclear to me if the LCI tail light retrofit is plug-n-play for my car. I see some posts that state that early build date cars need coding (and a harness).
Later, I see conflicting posts that state it is plug-n-play. Is there a definitive answer??? FYI - my car has the adaptive xenons stock... |

Can anybody confirm that these P/N's work like a Blackline/non-blackline tail light (with the LED strip)? I am planning to get these for a 2012 BMW 128 and just want to make sure they're not the one I already have. Thanks I just can't seem to find the answer. Even ECS can't tell me...
63217273427 63217273428 They're in the ECS website and it said that it's "For vehicles with Xenon and adaptive headlights with production date from 03/2011. Also plug-and-play on earlier models to upgrade to LCI tails." So I was thinking it is cheaper to go this route? Any input? |

Hi, I'm a new member to this forum so sorry if I sound really amateur haha! But I've been reading through and using tips/info from here for months now.
I live in the UK and have an 09/2011 118D which came with LCI halogen headlights with brows and LCI Celis strip tail lights, similar to blacklines but without the LED bars. I have installed some OEM blacklines I bought brand new from BMW, part no. 63212225282. They were pretty much PnP but obviously the LED bars didn't light up. Just like it was spoken about earlier in this thread, in the 3 pin plug I only have 2 pins - 1 empty, 2 and 3 have pins in. If I swap over pin 2 into the empty pin slot 1, the LED bars light up but the outer light does not work. Long story short I've managed to attach a wire to pin 1 and place into pin 2. So that all 3 pin sockets have a connection entering them. This means that with my headlights on at night, the LED bars work with all the bulbs behind working as well. This is fine by me, but what I would prefer is that only the LED bars work, sort of like DRLs and then the rest of the bulbs cut in when I brake. So my question is, would I need to code that in my footwell module? Or is that something that will be taken care of using the retrofit harness sold by BMW - 61122219698? If it is something the harness will sort out, can anyone provide more info on the harness? Do I need 2 harnesses because it connects to each rear light etc? Or where does the harness connect to? If anyone can help, it'll be appreciated! |

You need to go into your BC (or iDrive)settings and click on lights. When I had my SW updated at a BMW dealer, the settings they set the car to doesn't turn on the parking lights. I'm pretty sure this is why. Dack

Thanks Dack! But what I'm saying is I kind of like when it does this, I feel like that's the only way I can really appreciate the Blacklines (sometimes I leave the headlights on when I turn the car off and leave it so when I come back, I can see the Blacklines turn on and what a beauty!) in my car as when I'm driving w the lights on, they don't work the way they should (main bulbs turn on as well). You know what I mean? If there is only a way to let the Blacklines be like this even when driving the car, that would be nice. I don't know much about fiddling w the electricals of the car though how to install them here as well as relocate some of the wiring to make the led bars light up.

08 Halogen car
ok. I have read through this long thread in hopes of figuring out what lights/parts I need for rear blacklines to work
My car: 08 128i with halogen lights. I want: Blacklines, ideally with LED bars that light up It sounds like I can get blacklines without LED's, but not with. Is this the corrrect set below? http://www.schmiedmann.com/632122252...uctnumber.aspx |
