Tun3D > I noticed in your pic that your 1M rear bumper cover has what looks like rear proximity sensors. Is that correct? Is it possible to get a 1M rear bumper cover without rear sensors? My 1 doesn't have that option.

Sk8fe > Yesir. Here you go...
51128053878 - Rear Bumper w/i Sensors 51128052495 - Rear Bumper w/o Sensors Those are the appropriate part #'s: http://www.partsbase.org/bmw/1-e82-1...mw-51128052495 It's all here as well.... http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1058167 Just reemphasize/check at the time of ordering to make sure they get it right. In terms of the badge, Nah -- I can't. Novator (the guy that designed it), specifically requested that I not distribute. Pretty lucky he even let me use it. |

Thanks for the response on insta. I'm going to start a compilation of part numbers while on a business trip. Did you order from turner?
My other option is the Prior Design kit... Straight bolt on...

MBM6F > I split the build into several sections to make it an easier read. Check out the first page of this thread, and follow the navigation.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=862256 I broke everything down and have all the part numbers you'll need along with some of the choices you'll have to make regarding the washers, horn relocations, etc. There is only one section missing (PPK2), that I need to add/re-post. Other than that, it's all there. I got all the parts directly from BMW. I used Husker Parts, ECS Tuning, and a few other sites to compile the LOWEST online pricing. I didn't list prices as they have the tendency to change. I recommend that you compile the price list, get familiar with the parts, and go directly to BMW and ask them to price match. You'll save a ton of $$ on shipping. Matter of fact, follow that rule for everyone you approach. Negotiate the price and ask for discounts if not, they WILL stick it to you. What you don't want to do is just send them a list and ask for pricing -- big no no. Never seen the Prior Design kit...actually...never-mind (LOL), I have. Not sure how the rear could be bolt-on. Also, not sure how they handled extending the inner wheel wells. Look into it, everything else for sure bolts right in. The rear is the most labor intensive phase. Tun3d, thanks for the response. That sounds like a good plan. If you could shoot me some of the websites you used in a PN that would be great, as well as a price total. As far as the Prior Design kit goes, I meant it would be bolt on excepting the rear. As I already have the Remus quad exhaust, do you think I would be better off modding the outlets to fit the 1M bumper? Or getting a new system...

MBM6F > The websites I used to get pricing were mostly huskerparts.com & ecstuning.com.
In terms of the exhaust, I'm not really sure. The 135i's diffuser is a bit different from the 1M's -- size, mounting points, etc. It won't transfer over to the 1M bumper. I would wait till you do the conversion and relocation of the battery tray to see if the exhaust fits. If it does, then you would need a diffuser that would line up. I think the Remus tips are more towards the middle, if I'm not mistaken. Might be worth it to find/get a custom solution, as opposed to getting a NEW diffuser + NEW exhaust. But again, first-things-first. See if it fits. Let me know how you do on the parts. |

Tun3d > thanks man. Is the battery box required for exhaust fitment or bumper/quarter panel fitment? I'm hoping that my shop can just cut up the Remus exhaust and re align the tips so I can avoid the battery relocation.

MBM6F > Nah, Once you get the 1M rear bumper & diffuser, you need to see if it lines up. If they can adjust the exhaust, awesome!
The 1M battery box swap and relocation that goes along with it gives you more room to play with. It's designed specifically for the quad or rear/center muffler. Considering that I had the standard exhaust and the parts were relatively inexpensive ($700-800 not counting the exhaust), it made sense for me to do it. You can see just how much real estate opens up here... 135i... 1M... |

MBM6F > BTW, this might interest you. There is a member currently selling a CF 1M diffuser dirt cheap. Considering the stock one is about $500+, this is a heck of a bargain.

Update >
If anyone has done the following, please chime in. So this past weekend I swapped out the power steering reservoir to the newer version. ============== Anyways, In doing so, I quickly discovered that return/suction lines are inverted. With a little effort, I was able to attached the suction line without any modification. The return line, however, is much smaller in diameter and will not fit without modification (step adapter & larger piece of hose). That said, I'm 150% sure that the 1M's return line is the appropriate size (no modification needed). Have any of you conversion guys done this properly -- or am I the guinea pig on this? |

Checked all over the forums. While there are mods and even aftermarket upgrades, I have yet to come across a legit conversion to this canister. The canister itself is a no brainier. The lines, however, don't jive.
Even though the mod I made came out perfect -- no leaks & you can't even see it -- I'm still on a mission to find the correct lines. I ordered 2 sets from ECS Tuning. These guys are pretty legit. They're going to measure the inside diameter of the hoses before they ship them to me. Last edited by TUN3D; 12-23-2014 at 10:05 AM.. |
