Suprgnat You've inspired me to downsize to 17s squared with these wheels. How does the front look in person in terms of poking beyond the fender? Also, why did you change from the 225/45 to 245/40? I was looking at the recommended 235/40 but tire choices are limited and might go with 225/45-17 instead. |

Because I could. After I did the narrow hub conversion there was no worry of rubbing in the rear.

Not going to lie, fitment was perfect.
Left hand side was a straight bolt-on. A little bit of massaging to the "radiator seal" on both sides. I am ashamed of the poor quality of the modifications I performed back in 2020. I blame the pandemic. RH side I had to add a 13mm hex hole. I bolted down the RH brace with the 3 existing stock locations and used the RH brace and a transfer punch to mark the location of the new hole on the suspension carrier. I only had a 1/2 inch step drill and was too impatient to wait for the 13mm step drill (that Amazon still hasn't delivered as I type), so I did a little extra filing. Didn't take as long as it felt like it took. Fit is snug as it should be. Fits within the stock bodywork. Minor tweaks coming to Rev 2: I always make the bolt holes too tight. They don't need to be so tight. I always do that. Thinking about a 1-piece version.

What are these braces? Additional front subframe reinforcement?

That has to be a big improvement that you had no idea you needed.
Seems silly that area wasn't boxed in to begin with. The Cayman has a similar situation with the rear suspension. Simple plate between two parts only connected with thin sheet metal from the factory makes the rear end structure far stiffer. I want a set!

My feeling exactly.
I'm looking into making that a reality.

Did you use someplace like SendCutSend to make these, or did you do it yourself?

I used SCS for the blanks, but had to do the dimples myself.

Did SCS bend the edges, or did you have to do that yourself with a brake? Might also be interested in a set (either pre-made or DXF file).

They did the bending as well as the cutting. Give me a couple of weeks. I'm working on creating a kit, braces, spacers, and fasteners. I'll be out of town next week for work, so I'll need a little time after that to figure out how much $ I need to come up with for 5 sets or so. If I decide against making kits, I'll make the STEP files available to all.

Consider me in on this. Most likely I would happily buy a set...provided life doesn't hand me a big bill suddenly.
