Please tell us about the Homelink mirror swap. I've got it on my '07 335i Coupe and I want to swap it with my 1M when it shows up in a couple of weeks.

Can you post the steps for the fog light? Is it just a swap of the switch, or do we have to wire it?

Tuning the car without any other mods will likely net you 355-375 whp unless you are running too much boost and pushing the turbos dangerously hard. Unless you find ways to cool and/or decrease the workload of the turbos for the same boost levels (fmic, meth, downpipes, etc), then there is a solid limit of how much boost the N54 can take before things start to get into territory where you don't want to go. Stock, I wouldn't push an N54 beyond 13 psi on 91 octane. Even with downpipes and without meth, the safety limit is generally thought by tuners to be around 14-15 psi. With meth you can get up to 16-17 psi. So stock you really can only get to around 355-375 whp for that reason.

Seat Time.... Seat Time.... Seat Time! Well said from an earlier post!
This car has so much torque out of the box that it is a blast to drive each and every day! Just get to know your car and have fun with it. When you are ready to mix it up with some mods, then go for it. I have the ESS Tuning stage 1 tune on the car and it added more punch to the already powerful 1M. Everyone that has driven the car loves it and is completely impressed how it drives and handles. Here are a couple of posts from the ESS Tuning stage 1 tune on the 1M. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=557030 http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=552111

The EU switch is a direct, plug and play, replacement. Nothing else needed to activate rear fogs.

The EU headlight switch (61319169400 for cars with Xenon + Rain Sensor) can be obtained through dealers or from eBay (i.e., EuroActive). The switch is the same unit used in some of the other series, so it is not difficult to find.
I had my dealer install the unit, which is instantly recognized by the firmware (no additional flashing or programming), only because I wasn't familiar with where all of the outer trim tabs may be located. I have not taken any photos of the tail with the rear fogs illuminated yet (the switch lights up both left and right sides; I believe it is the inner brake light bulbs), I'll need to work on it when I get a minute. The rear fog light illumination is significant, especially in poor weather (i.e., SF fog, heavy rain, etc.). As far as the Homelink rear view mirror, more information can be found at the following thread, including an instruction set on removing a rear view mirror. http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=557199 |
