no you are correct i should have taken a stock 1m with me when i dropped mine off.
i do have a friend with a stock one so will ask him to drive me down when i collect it.

That way we can make a true judgement.

Just to up-date
As already mentioned elsewhere, Robin was closest with his guess although it made more lbft than anyone predicted
Final figures are 454bhp with 530lbft
Thanks to the amazing SPEC R intercooler and hard pipe kit we were able to run this power whilst retaining 23 degrees intake temps with 12 degree ambient air temps...

More info and pricing of the Spec R kits to followalong with the build thread..

cheers Jamie

Garage List
That's over a 50 degree F difference between ambient and IAT. That looks too high to me. 15 - 30 should be the norm. Am I missing something? Can you share your dyno charts with us?

Thanks!

Im not new to tuning and have spent the last year developing my 1M to ensure ive got the perfect set up to suite my taste,
The car is prodomently used as my daily drive and the occasional track day although i do have track/race cars to use on track so i only track the 1M with for a giggle rather than run it too within an inch of its life.

So my current spec is

Professionally hand made intercooler and full hardpipe kit (build thread to follow)
Catless 3" ceramic coated downpipes,
N55 Midpipes, (edited)

On the standard map it made

380BHP 415LBFT at the crank on a dynodynamics rolling road.

Im putting the impressive torque figures down to me retaining the standard back box
and the overall hyke in power down to the amazing intercooler & hard pipe kit which,
as soon as it was fitted made the car feel and sound far more aggressive. The turbo whistle is more noticeable now and the power delivery even without a re map feels much punchier and more powerful the higher up the revs you go..

So the car has been left with my carefully selected BMW race tuner for almost 9 days now, Ive had constant updates and progress reports and im confident the finished result is going to be a very driveable yet powerful 1M, if not the most powerful 1M in the uk???

So who would like to have a guess at the final dyno figures?
Il be doing a build thread before it gets mag featured, but for now i thought id ask peoples opinions on the spec choice and what power it'l make once mapped?

cheers Jamie
I really don't use this forum enough. I feel embarrassed i didnt no all this about your car!!

I'm still trying to make sense of the numbers ... Seems a few differences between countries here!

So the 454hp is at the flywheel correct?
I don't get why using a dyno measuring hp at the rear wheels would then be 'calculated' to a number for 'at the flywheel'. Why not just stick with the rear wheel figure? Perhaps it's a uk thing but its strange to me.
Would you happen to have the rear wheel hp number?

It is a UK thing, and a tuner's sales/marketing tool to get in the punters, and keeping it with the manufacturers marketing figures, but each appear to use different calculations / correction and transmission loss dependent on the dyno make. Only true flywheel/engine power figure is the use of a bench dyno. Starting to see more tuners now setting up hub dynos but all can give ATW figures but seem to stay clear due to the lower recorded figure obtained.

I'm not the best person to ask about the maths involved however,
from my experience, the uk flywheel figures seem to match the u.s (and everywhere elses) wheel power figures.
Whenever i see an Evo with stage 1 tune for example they make 400bhp in the uk or 400whp everywhere else.
So the 1M has 335bhp at the flywheel in the uk but everywhere else claims 335whp in standard form..
For me i see it as the same figures just a different name whp or bhp.

The figure is taken from the wheels however, to calculate the true "wheel horse power" you then have to calculate the transmission loss to give an accurate number. The uk tuners all state the power made at the wheels without calculating the transmission losses- hence the power made at the crank is what we all go on.

Glad you were impressed dung8. I've forgotten how the 1M feels in standard tune so wasnt sure you would notice much difference.

Definately The best tweek ive done to the car, was getting the geometry set up by RAY WEST tuning, its made the car more stable with 454bhp than the standard set up was with 335bhp lol.
I'm in talks with a few firms regarding some twin scroll turbo's and a tubular manifold which along with supporting mods should see power to over 500bhp i hope...
