My leather wheel's been flaking for 2 years, and really started falling apart early this year. I was looking at Redline Goods to match my shift boot, but $159 seems a bit rich. Especially when my wife won't stitch it up, and they want $189 additional to install it! Found what looks like the cover for my 2012 M-Sport on sale for $45. Hard to pass that up. Guess I'm gonna learn to stitch!

Hard to tell, but is your front windshield tinted? I've been thinking of getting that done maybe, the amount of heat that comes in through the front is ridiculous. Been thinking of getting a clear tint, just haven't pulled the trigger yet.

It isn't hard at all. Especially if you have the dental picks or some tweezers to pick up and pull the threads. I did not use the double sided tape. I started on one of the lower quarters. Stitch one to one until you are to the wheel then start the skip stitch until you get back to the spoke and go 1 - 1. I ended up stitching almost the entire length loosely then going back to the beginning with 2 picks and using them to alternately pull tension and hold the threads. It goes easy once you get the hang of it....

The front is not tinted. The sides are limo black. I have a BMW sun shade for the front that I use all the time here in FL. It's reflective & thick. Makes a massive difference.

Now, in my VW, I have my first front plate in all those years. I made it fun and got Legacy plates, which here means black plates, to go with my black car, and yellow letters/numbers. Added stainless steel frames. I know, not a 1er (hope I'm forgiven) lol, but it's what I got and the VW forums are so damn boring. I like it here better. |

No front plates in FL. In fact you only get one plate from the state when you register, which goes on the rear. Limo tint was on the car when I got it. Not legal in NV where I used to live but I never got a ticket or questioned. Don't even know in FL. If I get stopped I roll down all the windows & pull back the sunroof shade.

Going to tackle a bunch of work this week, just dropped all my COVID stimulus money at FCP Euro lol: Water Pump Thermostat Radiator Serpentine Belt and Pulleys Spark Plugs Front Brakes Trans Fluid/Filter Oil Change Relocation Inlets Snow Performance Water Meth Car has been rock solid for over 3 years tuned on E40/21PSI and just started leaking at the water pump housing and on the radiators plastic seam. Figured I would do everything in one go at once since it will be apart. Last edited by JM98; 03-05-2021 at 08:46 PM.. |

Finally got my bent strut tower fixed. Took my buddy all of 1 hour to get it pulled back to where it needed to be. And my new strut bar fits on now, so that’s good.
Also installed the vrsf catless DPs, and even before a tune it makes a difference! Took around 3 hours to do. Most of the time was spent trying to get the bolt started in the new v bands. |

Whelp.
Burger differential brace on the E88 was a fail. Ordered the large and the holes all line up. However, the extra structural support behind the rear subframe on the convertible prohibited me from installing the upper bolts @ nuts. Glad I bought an extra pair of replacement diff screws just in case. I did attach it to the diff and run it for a couple weeks, so probably not cool to return. If anyone with a coupe wants to try the BMS diff brace, but was reluctant to drop full pop on it, feel free to hit me up with an offer via PM... Bottom pic shows the little triangle I've ('vert) gotta get the RSF bolts through BEFORE getting 'em through the round holes that are hard enough to fit 'em through and hold in place whilst tightening the nuts... (shown: Slightly used Burger Tuning BMS Differential Support Bracket Brace for BMW 135i and E9x 335i × 1, Large Differential including unused bracket to subframe fasteners; 2x slightly used: Fastenal SKU 11552491 M10-1.5 x 30mm Class 10.9 EcoGuard hex screws & Fastenal SKU 0129507 M10 Delta Protekt Nord-Lock bolt-securing washers to replace the BMW 33117521292 M10 25mm diff screws; 1x KING 11-Inch Long Reach 45-Degree Bent Long Nose Pliers.) Did my first successful log with the N53 head, Schrick cams, and Hydra twins. 2500 to redline at 7500 rpm. And yes, we're starting conservatively.
It's definitely a go to jail car. Can't wait to get the first tune revision from Hydra.
