I’m glad i read a bunch of posts on here prior to trying it! those wobble bar extensions are amazing! Having a 1/2” to 3/8” adapter bit was also super useful!

Dropped the subframe a few inches and that made getting the trans back in and the bolts on a whole lot easier.

Not a job I ever hope to do again 😂

Standard Bimmerlabs 330i tune (Free) . 3 stage manifold from the local salvage yard for $75 bucks. Two new valves from FCPeuro ($300). Silicone intake ($35), ventilated airbox ($Free), removed carbon filter and KN I found in it when I bought it... cat back berk street 135 exhaust.

Car is great. Power is broad and smooth...pulls to redline so nice.

Never dynoed...butt dyno says good things.

Bimmerlabs tune. https://bimmerlabs.com/

No idea on the N51...but they have one now for n51 it appears...

Drove it with my new Brembos ceramic brake pads all around. Oh man all I hear is SILENT when braking. No more squeling at low speed. I dumped the textar brake pads in the trash can. 😂

Today i replaced my clutch slave cylinder which shat itself after replacing the clutch. currently in the process of bleeding the clutch, fun fun fun.

For anyone interested, I left the old slave cylinder attached to the fluid line, installed the new slave into the transmission, then disconnected the fluid line from the old one and plugged it quickly into the new one, covering the end of the line with my thumb, lost maybe a couple of drops of fluid tops.

edit: the old slave cylinder was leaking badly so i lost a fair bit of fluid through that hence bleeding.

Washed, waxed, and recoated the soft top...

And then threw headlight errors... popped the hood and sure enough one side of the headlight cover wasn't latched... just bought the car at the beginning of the summer (never driven in rain) and the previous owner must have incorrectly sealed the cap. Ugh. Put an inflatable slide fan directed at the back of the headlight in hopes to dry it out and maybe it'll work? Otherwise off to eBay I'll go.

Remove the headlight, ballast, and module and get a blow drier and blow dry everything. Might need to replace the ballast. Had this happen to me a lot because my headlight had a unnoticeable crack and would get water in it. The water goes all the way to the bottom flooding the module/ballast and thats the only way to really get the water to go away.

Didn't really do anything to the car today because my car has been at @OGSharkRacing getting my RSF Splitter installed. But here is a photo of the cockpit of my little race car. I recently ordered full Red Color Shift Carbon Fiber door panels by Nelson Racing Design so stay tuned for that as well!

After the 3IM install last week, I wanted to give Little Red a little splash of color under the hood, so . . . some red pinstripe tape . . . Anyway, it fits with the red/black color scheme of the car.

Thanks - the 1/4 inch tape fit perfectly on the engine cover stripes but had to be trimmed down to fit on the manifold cover and the B was a challenge and should not be examined too closely.

Now in the correct thread!

Finally put together a bracket to mount my improved racing tstat. Used the mounting holes from the stock front inlet.

That looks awesome! What tools did you use to cut the perimeter? Also what did you use to soften the edges? They're blended really nicely and the piece has a pretty finish.

Thanks! To cut it I used my portaband. I have it mounted on a little table from SWAG Offroad. For the edges I just eyeballed them on the belt sander until they all looked close. Then finished it off with the usual sanding progression followed by polish. Did spend a fair bit of time hand sanding on it until I thought it looked good. Pretty ghetto way to get it done all in all but happy with the result. Also just used a little vice mounted press brake which did pretty good with the 1/8" aluminum.

If the AFS module and ballast are OK (not shorted), drying them out will work.
Be prepared to pick up a module and ballast though.

Which errors did you see?

I recently found a leak that ended up necessitating a new AFS board and ballast. All good now and leak repaired.

Adaptive headlight error and low-beam error. Xenon not turning on. I tried drying things out with a huge fan and a heat gun, but both errors remain.

Can't decide if I want to just buy a whole new headlight or if I want to try to piece it together with the modules/ballast. I'm not in a huge hurry, aside from the fact that I hate having warnings on the dash. This is a 3rd car and really only intended for nice sunny days, so the headlights aren't used all too often... it's likely going to get parked soon, as the rain starts creeping back in. I'll probably wait till then to fix things so I can take my time.

Did first autocross with the 128i on Saturday. Was very happy with power and agility even on all season tires... Until it rained. Then I was all over the place and had to turn DSC back on. Really happy with her so far.

Sunday did oil change, cabin and engine air filters, charcoal filter delete, plugs and coils. Need to do transmission, differential fluids, and CDV Delete this week before my next autocross on Sunday.

If it works for the muppets at Bad Obsession Motorsport, why not?

Well, interestingly enough on my drive this morning the adaptive headlight error did not turn on. Perhaps I just hadn't dried that module out enough and now it's good? Who the heck knows. Still getting low beam errors and it's not illuminating, so probably need some work there.

I recently bought a used set of headlights to pull apart for a project and I noticed that the jackets in the wires failed and the wires would touch causing the headlights to fault out. Try opening the back of the headlights and seeing if the wires insulation has failed.
