I can't find it via FCP's search - what is it called by FCP? Or is there a part number?
Thanks.

Finally got a aftermarket front sway bar coming in, (Nolathane) should I also be getting adjustable end links too? I am lowered by close to two inches on swift springs. If so, do I make them longer or shorter? There seems to some debate elsewhere on bimmerpost so now I'm confused.

Hi guys I am new here don't know how to create a new thread, I own a 128i 2008 n54 swapped with full 1m suspension, today I went for a quick drive and after a wot, I came to park the car and I hear a sound exactly like rod knock that increase frequency with rpms. Turn off the car for 2 hours came back and no sound at all drove it for 20 min with a couple of pulls nothing to be heard. Plugged it to inpa to check for codes not a single code. Any clues what it might be?

I bought and installed one of the china made underhood sound and heat insulation pads.

Came stuffed in a small bag and lots of crinkles. Doesn't quite fit the way I'd expect it to but maybe it will relax once I get it warm a few times.

Will take some pics once its daylight and also see if it fits and is less wrinkly once I warm it a few times....

Bought this version from this seller.

Yes, Ric, do post pics and report back. It is something I've been thinking about as well.

Got the new sway bar not installed today. Nothing beats getting the wrong part sent to you...
I ordered the correct bar, and according to the label on the bag that the sway bar was in, the part number matched. But it sure wasn't the one in the bag.

I put in new headlight housings on my 2011 128i - just plain old basic Halogens, no automatic leveling, just plain old manual adjustment. I've got the low beams adjusted up/down by turning the white wheel/knob in the first pic below. But there is this other white wheel/knob (second picture) but it has a little plug/cap in it (I assume to discourage fooling with it. But if you remove the plug it is the same as the other adjustment wheel. What does that control? Side-to-side? Or the up/down of the high beams (which I didn't think was something you could do on any car)?
My driver side high beam is pointing down too much - may be that the bulb is not seated square but I was wondering about that other adjuster wheel.

Replaced power steering reservoir and fluid with fresh CHF11S. Must have been the original fluid as it was pretty black. Steering feels better now somehow, smoother ...

A little late but installed Stoptech's 380mm Trophy front BBK and retrofitted F80 M3 370mm rear brakes w/SeemsLegitGarage's adapter. They did well on her first track day. The performance pads that come with Stoptech BBK have a strong initial bite.

Finally....

FINALLY!!

Repaired my drivers side sport seat thigh support!
Super easy to do once you know where the catch/hook thingy is that allows you to remove the sliding bit! It's only taken me just over a year to deal with this, just to make sure the new owner will be comfy!

Need to grab a few pics and attach em to a how-to post. Everything I could find in my searches the pics were all self hosted, and unfortunately, long gone.... I figure if I attach em they might stick around making life easier for the next unlucky soul...

Are you referring to the part that slides back and forth at the center of the base of the seat? My passenger side one is broke and I was looking for a way to fix it. And what ever the part is called for that matter too. It's broke and sticks all the way out annoyingly.

So yeah, pics would be super appreciated as I may go through the same process if it is the same issue I got.

I went for OE BMW, but yeah, it's 3x the price of the eBay one you bought.

Replaced both HID builbs

Passenger side went out a while back and I finally got it replaced (don't do much night / dark driving in the summer, as it turns out). OSRAM Xenarc Night Breaker Laser D1S 35W Twin pack from powerbulbs.com – best price, free (and quick!) shipping.

What I learned doing this:
  1. If you have an N51, on the passenger side move the bracket holding the SULEV c*** out of the way and on the driver side undo the two bolts holding the airbox to move it back. I don't that it's possible to get the covers off and access to the bulbs w/o doing this, but even if it is, this will take less time and aggravation.
  2. Next time you have access to it, glue down the little rubber half dome supporting the airbox. It gloms onto the bottom of the airbox, so when you pull it up, the %*($%&#@ thing drops into the undertray somewhere...

And I channeled my inner Sreten a bit: Cleaned the caps for both headlights thoroughly, because I was in there and now I know they're clean.

Today i’m not posting about what i did to my 1er, but rather what it did to me…

Last weekend while reattaching my driveshaft to the giubo the 1/2” drive introduced my finger to the edge of the transmission tunnel - result = cracked finger tip.

This weekend while holding the midpipes in place while my mate bolted them the muscles in my thumb decided they’d had enough and let go. doh.

Be careful out there folks!

Lil Red stops by for a visit.....

Swapped the old crunchy undertray for a new slightly flexy not quite as nice as OEM but not cracked and broken undertray. But for less than 90 shpped to my door I am good with it.

Took some pics of my bargain priced underhood insulation...its not that bad..

Swapped the all seasons on since it is getting cooler all of a sudden and the 261's have a vibration more of a thrum.thrum.thrum at speed and a couple places where it looks like a tire cord has broken and I really dont want to get stranded somewhere.

Those tires are 2018's so time for new ones.

I really want a set of 261 FRONTS to make a square set. If anyone has any leads please let me know. I'll sell the 261 rears too.

Once that was done K9leader dropped by on his way home from Williamsburg after watching his alma mater team win football yesterday since I was on his route home. We swapped car ideas and went for a ride.

His car is very nicely done and has some really cool ideas.

Pics soon once I get them downloaded.

well, it's not my best how-to post, but it's certainly better than anything else out there currently

Yes, it was a great visit with Ric - he let me drive his car to get a feel for the M3 control arms (which I have for mine but have not yet installed) and the short shifter (very nice - it is now on the list). I think we both inspired each other to go out and spend some $$.
