Went for a small road trip in the 1er with the fam to Niagara Falls. Didnt have time for the Canadian side but went along the trails across the river in the fall colors. Forgot to snap a pic of the 1er!

That's the perfect clutch feel....

Both of these are MUST DO free changes to the car...

I saw a mention of that a long time ago and completely forgot about that. I’ll definitely need to get on that!

Took Little Red (my 2011 128i) to a Cars & Coffee at the local BMW dealer - the same group has several other dealerships all clustered together and non-BMW cars were at the Buick/GMC lot across the street. I started at the Buick/GMC lot for an hour and then went over to BMW. Probably the last car event of the season.

There were three other One-ers there beside Little Red, all 135i, two coupes and one convertible. I had a nice long talk with the owner of this silver 2010 coupe. He has it making 700hp. The guys who arrived in the blue coupe had no interest in talking to us old guys and headed straight for the 20-something crowd. What would we old guys know about cars?

I installed a clutch bump stopper, and did the CDV, but never removed the helper spring
Link to that? I will search . . . Any more specifics appreciated pls!

I too, am interested in the helper spring removal. I'll add though my pedal spring looks different than the one seen in the E90post thread that was from a decade ago, so I'm kinda assuming this may not work for me.

Clutch pedal spring idea is new to me as well. Huh.

I did find this for instructions: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1122797

swapped out burnt 5k led halos for 3k yellow LED halos, 6k H1S bulbs also went in for the mains. The H8 led lasted 3weeks short of 2yrs. Not bad, trying a diff brand this time as not many makes them in 3k temp.

Removed MHD for Cali smog coming up this weekend. Miss the start up roar already with the berk race. I'll see if they inspect that muffler delete and pass smog lol

Bought the 128i a companion

Recently I've been thinking I am getting too close to making the 128i too much and ruining what is otherwise the prefect sports sedan.

Too stiff, too loud, etc...all those things that it is too easy to go a bit too far.

So I started looking around for the perfect analog-ish sportscar to continue the sportscar journey with.

Now mind you I am NEVER selling the 128i..its my lovely daily weapon...but I am going to enjoy the hell out of this....which I have to wait until next week to get since the owner flew out of tow n this morning and wont be back until SUNDAY!!

2009 Base, low spec manual Cayman right around 100000 miles.

There's always room for one more fun car in the garage (or the driveway or the street in front of the house). Congrats!

replaced the "left cornering lamp" - it's very fiddly to remove the cap, and replace the cap to access the bulb. No idea why access is so tight, but if you look at the lid you'll see how it goes back on. pain in ass though, for what should be very simple

Installed this cool little shift knob adapter from Garagistic. Since purchasing the vehicle in 2018, I’ve been on a quest to dial in the shift experience. I’ve done the CDV delete, added the UCP, upgraded shifter bushings, transmission mounts, and selector rod. I’ve had four short shifters: Dinan, UUC, a Coolerworx chassis mount, and currently the Turner kit. I’ve gone thru 8 shift knobs, including the beloved ZHP, which is indeed awesome. All of those combos had pros (mostly pros really) and cons but still have left me wanting a little more. My benchmark is an old Buddyclub short shifter I had in a Civic, it was magnificent and that may be my problem, that I keep trying to replicate that.

The way this adapter works is pretty slick: it has a threaded plastic sleeve that snaps onto the shift lever in traditional BMW fashion. Then, you thread the external stainless sleeve onto the plastic sleeve and voila you are ready to screw on your shift knob.

Between the height adjustability of the Turner shifter and this sleeve adding some weight to the barrel of the shifter, it’s the best shift experience I’ve had so far. 1-2 shift is still occasionally notchy but it’s a big improvement over some of the other knob combos. I chose the Cobb knob for it’s weight and shape (pretty close to the old classic Honda/Acura type r knobs).

The adapter comes in two thread specs, which fit the below manufacturers I found out, plus a bunch of other aftermarket knobs.
M10 1.25 - fits Mazda knobs
M12 1.25 - fits Subaru knobs

Replaced the rear right fender liner…
Installed the underbody transmission splash shield…

As I went to pop the hood for a look over, I noticed the coolant reservoir cover was completely back out…
Strange I thought, but today as I did more investigation, I’ve noticed that it turns freely between closed and a 1/4 turn to then left!

After that 1/4 turn its snugs, but it seems like I may need a new reservoir soon!

If you haven't already tried, trans fluid makes a huge difference too.
I swapped to redline D4, it made a big improvement in 0-1 and 1-2, especially when cold.

I desperately need to do my trans fluid. How hard is it to refill the trans once empty?
