My heat doesn't seem to be working anymore. Lots of fun commuting in sub zero temps Although it eventually does get to a bearable temp.
Midway through 40min commute, temp set at 84*, fan speed high, only the middle vents selected. Air feels more like 60-70* out of the vents. Fan speed control works fine, vent selection works fine. Thinking I may have to try flushing the heater core or just replacing it. Will have to do some more troubleshooting when it gets a little warmer. Any insight? edit; or maybe heater control valve... If you have the option to go without a front plate (WA state, so I don't) and no holes to fill, I vote for clean, no plate.

That reminds me: I still need to reach out to my legislative representatives to ask for an amendment to RCW 46.16A.200. Of course, it probably won't stand a snowball's chance in hell as I'll bet the WADOL & State and Local Police lobbyists like the revenue from the tickets.

The temperature sensor is different, and the way they function is also different. The old one does not have an intensity control when in auto, the new one has 5 different levels. They don’t work well interchangeably. You will probably want to save the coding information of your old one, and recode the new one to be the same (and change the Sync button coding). Beware. |

Though I will say my Pre-LCI (10/2009 build date) has the old style AC control unit, but has 3 levels of Auto, for whatever that's worth. |

e82 Sunroof Sliding Shade Story Time!
For nearly a year now, my sunroof sliding shade cover has been getting worse and worse. It started as sagging here and there, but I put it off and put it off, until finally it looked like this:
The entire cloth underside had come completely apart, and was only being held on by the handle. I got tired of seeing it hanging down, so I tucked it in as best as I could: Eventually, though, I had to do something permanent about this thing. Plus, the orange foam glue dust crap was getting EVERYWHERE. So, research done (so many horror stories about this process!) and new sliding shade ordered and received. Time to get to work! First step is to raise the sunroof glass to "vent" position and unscrew the 3 screws on each side: Job done! (though I forgot to take pictures of the exact position of the glass relative to the roofline, but I'll get back to that later) Glass is out, and now I'm starting to see just how much of this glue dust there actually is! Next step is to slide the sliding shade all the way forward. This was a huge pain because the fabric had gotten stuck in the rails and the thing was jammed. Finally, though, I got it. Now the inside looks like this: Next, I had to remove this rain gutter: And here's what I'm left with: Next, before the new shade goes in, gotta do some cleaning. First the rain gutter: Then come out with the clean gutter and replacement shade, and then remove the clips, so I can remove the old shade: And finally out. ...And damn, this thing is in rough shape: Here, I did a TON more cleaning, as the entire area around the sunroof itself and sliding shade was full of that foam glue dust crap. SO much cleaning, but no pics. I didn't really have a good way of cleaning the space between the roof of the car and the headliner, so I improvised with a wet swiffer, and some microfiber towels with all-natural cleaner. Worked pretty well, but I'm SURE there's more of that dust buried and hiding in the corners! Anyway, just as I'm about to start the install, I gotta take a break for a meat delivery: Now that all of that is unpacked and in the freezer, it's back to work. Out with the old, and in with the new! New shade is in its tracks and looking and feeling smooth! And now, before I put the glass back on, MORE cleaning: Glass is back in! The sliding shade closes! Here's where I'm not sure if I lined everything up 100% right, so I'll have to find a factory manual to see if I need to adjust anything further. It looks good to me, though: And now...the moment of truth...I test the open/close/vent operation, and... It works! And now...MORE cleaning! (if I had to do this again, I'm definitely laying down a giant bedsheet or something on the inside. This stuff is nearly everywhere) Final test to make sure everything is sealed and everything drains like it's supposed to, the local car wash: It's perfect! Now that I'm home, I get to celebrate that this is finally done! And, a lot like my car in the car wash, I like my whiskey without water. *Edit: Oof...sorry for huge images XD Last edited by ResinThirteen; 02-01-2023 at 08:25 PM.. |

Nice! I should rip mine off and paint them too, good idea. I’m currently doing 1m control arms and ECS trailing arms (koni shocks and AKG shock mounts as well) and torn on which bushings. Looking at SuperPro. Any idea what you’re going to use?

Can INPA or anything troubleshoot heater issues?
Mine started misbehaving last winter, but in true FL fashion I forgot all about heating issues when it wasn't one of those few days it was needed... And now they're back again and I still need to tinker with it... especially now with drivers side seat heater needing repair as well...
