So it is really a bourbon starter kit for you...."MAKES 1.5 L " on every 750 ml bottle..

I guess it is cheaper if you think of it that way.

The 94 proof that is posted above is the normal ~$30 bottle. A store pick will usually be better and a similar price (maybe $35) while the barrel proofs that were posted run closer to $60 and are in a whole different league.

I drink just about everything straight, every now and then will add a few drops of water. I very rarely have used an ice cube where it improved the taste for me.

The funny this about this to me is that the two small cubes will dilute more than a large ball unless you let it sit for a long time (because they melt faster). The whole point of using large cubes or balls is to chill your drink without diluting it.

This is a great beater bourbon. I always have a 1.75L sitting around at all times. Best used for cocktails. I use this and Sazerac Straight Rye interchangeably.

I'm going to have to give my ice more thought from now on!

When I use small cubes, they are very small and spherically shaped. For large cubes, I use big balls and cubes. Understand smaller cubes would melt faster due to less volume, but greater overall surface area of larger cubes would speed up melting? I do tend to pour large glasses though, so 1 or 2 small cubes reach a max dilution, while large cubes will keep on diluting. I actually like the added water to a point.

Then there are the times I use stones...

Time for a drink!

I just picked up a Redbreast 12 as the Class 6 had it on sale - relly enjoying it so far. Never seen a Redbreast 15, I'd love to find that to try.

I has a glass of Redbreast 27 a few months ago and it was absolutely amazing

Seeing all this High West makes me sick.

A few years back I went to a conference held at Thunderbird. Tech conference so no money spared. The company putting it on was also a Utah company, so, naturally, they invited high west to the top of the mountain where they held a special tasting of a unique event only batch.

Later that evening I found myself in the hospitality sweet rubbing shoulders with the CTO, who gifted me one of the very few bottles of this limited batch. Boy, was it good.

I headed home to Arizona and proceeded to place it with pride in my cupboard, for a rainy day. That day came, and so did my rage. My wife hadn’t a clue what it was, and decided it was quite the smooth mix with Diet Coke. On that day, I had very little love. Who am I kidding, I’m still not over it.

Oh man It was thankfully nothing to that extent but my dad used one of my expensive (and really hard to find) rums to mix in his egg nog a few years ago. I was pretty mad as it was literally on the top shelf, and I thought everyone knew what that meant.

Do you remember what it was called? I have a bottle like that from Journeyman - but it is locked in my safe and my wife doesn't know the combination

Bro-In-law-in-law and I have decided we are taking some sort of cognac to the cabin for NYE. HOPING for a nice bit of snow on the deck to chill it in.

Help a brother alcoholic out here: what should I get? I'd say max $125. We have to finish the bottle in four evenings at 7000', and we live on the coast.

My experience lies mostly with Remy Martin.
